Discover the enchanting plum blossoms of Seonamsa Temple in Suncheon! Our 2026 guide covers free entry, parking tips, and a beautiful walk. Perfect for a family outing!

This is a travelogue from my visit to Seonamsa Temple last weekend with my family.
Seonamsa is particularly famous for its beautiful plum blossoms around this time of year.
When I visited last weekend, the plum blossoms at Seonamsa were about 80-90% in bloom.

As you drive towards Seonamsa, you'll notice many restaurants lining the road as you get closer.

Even though it was a March weekend, there was no separate admission fee or parking fee.
I drove past Parking Lot 1 and went all the way to Parking Lot 2, which is the closest to Seonamsa Temple.
Parking Lot 2

After passing these restaurants, you'll find Parking Lot 2 on your right.
This is the closest parking lot to Seonamsa Temple.
As such, the competition for spots can be fierce. Luckily, after arriving and waiting for a short while, a car pulled out, and I managed to park.

From the parking lot, it's about a 1-kilometer walk to Seonamsa Temple.

It was great that there were no separate admission or parking fees.

There were many photo zones along the way to Seonamsa Temple.

Songgwangsa Temple is about 12 km away.

The path is a natural dirt trail, and I even picked up some pinecones along the way.

With a valley running alongside the path, listening to the sound of the water was truly a healing experience.

The Suncheon Traditional Wild Tea Experience Center was located along the path.
If you have time, it would be wonderful to stop by, enjoy a cup of tea, and experience the wild tea for yourself.

Stone 'Jangseung' (totem poles) stood guard along the path.

In the distance, a stone bridge, a popular spot for social media photos, started to appear.

Along the path, small stone pagodas, each holding people's wishes, lined the way.

I decided against going all the way down to the valley for photos, as it looked a bit risky. Instead, I snapped some shots right from the stone bridge!

After crossing the bridge, we continued our stroll towards Seonamsa Temple.

Even a small water channel called for a photo op!
Seongakdang
This is Seongakdang, a delightful traditional tea house nestled right at the entrance of Seonamsa Temple.

I arrived a little behind schedule due to parking, but my eldest and my mother had already gotten there ahead of me and even picked up some delicious Yeonkkulppang (lotus honey bread)!

The shop near the entrance was a treasure trove, selling various Buddhist-related items, more Yeonkkulppang, and beautiful bamboo crafts.

After savoring a Yeonkkulppang, I took a moment to look around and noticed the unique wall, crafted entirely from traditional roof tiles.

The moss clinging to the tiled wall whispered tales of time, and a tiny plant peeking out from beneath it seemed to announce the arrival of spring.
From Seongakdang, the path forks into two, and both routes will lead you up to Seonamsa Temple.

Taking the path to the right will lead you to the main entrance.
It's a bit of an uphill climb, so be prepared!

Head up this path, and you might just meet an incredibly cute friend!

It's our incredibly cute 'Yeomjuchan' cat friend, the kind that just makes you want to give them a happy little pat on the bum!

After a lovely little chat with a friend enjoying the warm spring sunshine, we made our way into Seonamsa Temple.
A Sneak Peek at My Next Post
