Photos/Written by ⓒMinimanimo
Hello, fellow travelers!
I'm Mini, bringing you the best spotlighted moments from Thailand!
Last week, I took my second trip to Chiang Mai,
and for the first time, I flew on the Jin Air Incheon - Chiang Mai route (LJ009/LJ010).
Before booking, my biggest questions were: How long is the flight to Chiang Mai?
What is Jin Air's baggage policy? Are the seats comfortable?
And is the in-flight Wi-Fi actually usable?
Based on my actual experience flying round-trip,
I’m going to share everything from the booking process, flight times, baggage rules, seats,
and overall in-flight environment in detail.

at counters E21 to E40.
Self check-in and self bag-drop kiosks are also available,
making the whole process much faster than expected.

Seats & Cabin Environment
LJ009 is a Boeing 737-8 aircraft with a 3-3 seat configuration.
My seat was 35F, a window seat.

You can select your seat for free during online check-in,
which opens 24 hours before departure.

Since it's a low-cost carrier (LCC), I was worried it might feel cramped,
but at 163 cm (5'4") tall, my knees didn't touch the seat in front of me.
Even for a flight lasting over 5 hours, it wasn't uncomfortable at all.
The seat pitch was surprisingly satisfying for an LCC!

Keep in mind that individual screens are not provided,
so I highly recommend downloading some movies or dramas beforehand!

In-Flight Wi-Fi Review
I tried the in-flight Wi-Fi for the first time on this Chiang Mai route,
and it was actually much better than I expected!
Plan | Duration | Price | Details |
Message Pack | Entire Flight | $4.95 | Send and receive text messages on chat apps *Photos, videos, and files cannot be attached |
Internet Pack | 2 Hours | $10.95 | Message Pack + web surfing, email, music & video streaming (up to 480p) *Photos, videos, and files can be attached |
Entire Flight | $13.95 |
I opted for the Internet Pack,
and it was good enough for KakaoTalk, Naver Blog, Instagram, web surfing,
and streaming YouTube Music.
It was a bit on the slower side, but definitely enough to keep me
entertained throughout the flight.

In-Flight Meals & Service
Meals are not provided on the Incheon - Chiang Mai route.
Since the flight is over 5 hours long, you might get quite
hungry. I highly recommend grabbing some light snacks and drinks
at a convenience store before boarding.

Jin Air LJ010 Flight Review
(Baggage, Seats, In-Flight Experience)
Check-in & Baggage Policy
For the return flight,
I checked in at counters 27–29 on the 1st floor
of Chiang Mai International Airport.
The baggage allowance is the same as the outbound flight.

Seats & In-Flight Experience
The return flight was also a B737-8 aircraft,
and I sat in aisle seat 59C.

Since it was the rainy season, the flight wasn't very crowded,
and I got lucky with an empty seat next to me.
Thanks to that, I got to experience my very first "lie-flat economy."
Flying while lying down made the journey so much less tiring!

Just like on LJ009, there are no personal monitors,
so it's best to download some entertainment beforehand.

In-Flight Meals & Service
Similarly, no meals are provided on the Chiang Mai - Incheon route.
There's a convenience store, a cafe, and a Burger King near the gate
selling snacks and souvenirs, which was perfect for grabbing a quick bite
or stocking up on snacks before departure.
Just keep in mind that some places only accept cash!

Chiang Mai Airport Immigration (TDAC, Duration)
Immigration was incredibly fast on this trip!
✔️ 21:35 Arrived (Local Time)
✔️ 21:39 Immigration Cleared
✔️ 21:57 Baggage Collected & Left the Airport
If you don't fill out the TDAC (Thailand Digital Arrival Card) beforehand,
you'll have to do it at the airport, which can slow you down.
I highly recommend registering before your departure.
Final Thoughts
Overall, my flights on Jin Air's LJ009 and LJ010 routes
between Incheon and Chiang Mai were highly satisfying.
✔️ Flight time: Approx. 5 hours 20 mins
✔️ Checked baggage: 15kg included
✔️ Free seat selection via online check-in
✔️ In-flight Wi-Fi available
✔️ On-time operations
The seats, which I was a bit worried about since it's a budget airline,
were actually quite comfortable,
and having access to in-flight Wi-Fi meant
the long flight wasn't boring at all.
If you're planning a trip to Chiang Mai,
Jin Air's LJ009 and LJ010 flights are definitely
a fantastic and satisfying option.
