When autumn arrives, don't you find yourself looking up at the trees, even if you're not planning a faraway trip? Every year around this time, I debate whether to wander through the downtown area of Gaeksa (객사) or the historic Jeonju Hanok Village (전주 한옥마을). This year, I decided to take a leisurely stroll all the way to Jeonjucheon (전주천) to soak in the stunning fall colors of Jeonju Hanok Village.
1) Scenic Walking Paths
While delicious food often comes to mind when thinking about a fall trip to Jeonju, I have a special fondness for the autumnal alleyways. It feels like stepping into a completely different neighborhood just by seeing the familiar tiled roofs framed by a new palette of leaf colors. This time, my plan wasn't about packed activities, but simply enjoying a relaxed autumn walk.
Adding a stroll along Jeonjucheon offered a completely different perspective compared to viewing the foliage from within the alleys. With the mountains and trees visible across the water, the vista felt incredibly open and refreshing. It made me wonder if I'd been missing nearby beauty while always venturing far; even a brief stop to simply gaze at the scenery was truly delightful.

2) Golden Ginkgo Trees
What truly captured my attention this time were the ginkgo trees in Jeonju Hanok Village. The vivid yellow leaves against the ancient stone walls created an incredibly beautiful color combination. Unlike the fiery reds of maple leaves, the ginkgo offered a warm, cozy feeling, naturally slowing my pace along the ginkgo-lined paths.
It made me realize you don't always need to hike up a mountain to find the best autumn foliage in Jeonju. With golden leaves above and traditional hanoks beside you, autumn was everywhere I turned. Just remember that the intensity of the fall colors varies each year, so please view my photos as a snapshot of the scenery during my visit.

3) Capturing Autumn's Colors
While photos of Jeonju Hanok Village are beautiful on their own, adding the vibrant leaf colors makes the atmosphere so much warmer. Looking at shots taken under golden ginkgo leaves and next to fiery red maple trees side-by-side, even on the same day, the background mood felt quite distinct.
The crimson trees, in particular, were impossible to pass by. The scenery was stunning on its own, but with people in the frame, the colors of the trees seemed even more vibrant. If you're planning an autumn date, I highly recommend setting aside time to take photos of each other. This beautiful season passes by surprisingly quickly!

4) Riverside Scenery
Stepping out of the alleys and onto the riverside paths allows you to capture the waterside scenery all at once. With paths along the walls connecting to those overlooking the river, it was a delight to change up the atmosphere during my Jeonju Hanok Village outing. The tunnel and waterside views captured in these photos remain vivid memories from that day.
While it's great to pack many attractions into your Jeonju itinerary, in autumn, it might be even better to linger a little longer in one spot. For me, the vibrant trees left a more lasting impression than any specific facility that day. I highly recommend wearing comfortable shoes and taking your time to explore.

Looking back at the photos, I'm glad I captured both the yellows and the reds. It felt like truly experiencing a season in a familiar place! I have a feeling I'll be out walking again next autumn when these beautiful scenes come to mind.
