Recently, my in-laws and I took a family trip to Jeonju Hanok Village (전주한옥마을), and we spontaneously decided to try a hanbok rental and photoshoot at Hwangjini Hanbok (황진이한복)!
This wasn't a sponsored trip; my father-in-law paid for it himself, and I'm excited to share our family photoshoot experience.

Family Photoshoot Review
As soon as we checked into our accommodation, my father-in-law expressed a desire to try on hanbok, which led us spontaneously to Hwangjini Hanbok in Jeonju Hanok Village. We hadn't made a reservation, but they confirmed they could accommodate us immediately that day.

This was my first time renting hanbok in Jeonju Hanok Village. Our original plan was to rent the hanbok and wear them out, but because we had a restaurant reservation, we decided to only do a photoshoot indoors.
I thought a quick indoor shoot would be over in no time, but since we took photos in three different styles, it took us a little over an hour, even with us rushing. If you only opt for one type of photo, an hour should be more than enough.

There's a noticeable difference between the standard and premium hanbok for women! Standard hanbok tend to be more modest and come in lighter tones, while the premium line offers a much wider range of vibrant colors.
* Standard Hanbok (Full Day Rental) ₩20,000 (~$15)
* Premium Hanbok (Full Day Rental) ₩25,000 (~$19)

There's also a difference between standard and premium hanbok for men. If you want to wear the royal `gonryongpo` (dragon robe) style hanbok, you'll need to choose from the premium line.

Since we weren't going out, we didn't bother renting shoes, but they do have socks (`beoseon`) available in various sizes. Of course, bags, crowns, and traditional hats (`gat`) are also provided!

I didn't get a detailed look at the Gyeongseong Era outfits, but there were fewer options compared to hanbok. Still, they had good accessories like shoes and bags.
With vintage fashion trending again, these outfits didn't look outdated at all.

A total of five of us rented outfits, including my in-laws and myself. My in-laws prefer simple styles, so we chose similar tones to match the overall feel.
After we picked our skirts, the owner helped us choose suitable tops. The hanbok were all clean and well-maintained :)

While the hair ornaments themselves weren't particularly unique, the owner was quick and skilled. Just tell her the style you want, and she'll make it happen beautifully.
Half-updos and braided `daenggi` hair are free, but adding a `binyeo` (ornamental hairpin) and `cheopji` (forehead ornament) style costs an additional ₩20,000 (~$15).

We took one group photo with a Gyeongseong Era background and individual couple photos against a plain backdrop. My in-laws looked adorably nervous!

We also took photos of just my in-laws, and then of our couple. There were plenty of photo zones, so waiting wasn't boring at all. We made sure to take lots of pictures to make the hanbok rental fee worthwhile!

Here's a glimpse of the final results :) We picked the photos we wanted edited from the originals before we left, and by the time we returned after dinner, they were all ready. Additional edits were also possible.
I was very satisfied with the quick and well-done editing, and being able to print and take home the photos right away was a huge plus!
Our total cost for hanbok rental and the photoshoot was around ₩200,000 (~$150). This included hanbok rental for 5 people + 3 types of shoots + 5 printed photos + 2 frames, which felt like a reasonable price.

Note that if you only try on hanbok and don't rent, there's a fitting fee of ₩5,000 (~$4). You can try on hanbok skirts once, tops twice, and Gyeongseong Era outfits twice.

This was only my second time renting hanbok, and Hwangjini Hanbok was much better than the previous place I tried. They had more variety, and the owner was incredibly kind and skillful with hair styling.
If you're looking for a great hanbok rental in Jeonju, I highly recommend Hwangjini Hanbok in Jeonju Hanok Village!
