Jeonju Gaeksa & Jeollagamyeong Hotspot
Cafe Bimi: An Honest Review
On a recent trip to Jeonju, I stopped by Cafe Bimi, a place that's been creating quite a buzz. Located right in front of the historic Jeollagamyeong, it's quickly become one of the city's hottest spots.
I visited after having lunch at Pizzeria Ongo 70', and as expected, the cafe was bustling. While it was a bit challenging to fully relax and soak in the atmosphere due to the crowds, the interior design and the desserts certainly left a lasting impression!
Bimi Basic Information

Operating Hours - 11:00 AM to 10:00 PM
Regular Day Off - Every Thursday

Cafe Bimi, originally a hit in Gwangju, has expanded its charm to Jeonju!
Whenever I hear 'Cafe Bimi,' my mind naturally drifts to the famous Bimi in Fukuoka, Japan. When the Gwangju location first opened, I couldn't help but notice the striking similarities. My sister later told me that the owner was indeed inspired by that beloved space in Fukuoka!
Interior & Ambiance

For popular spots like this, an 'open run' (arriving right at opening) is usually essential. Visiting around lunchtime on a weekend, it was almost completely full!

I heard it opened in July 2026, and even a month later, in August, it was still packed with people. If I had arrived right at opening, I could have explored the space more leisurely and taken proper photos...

The cafe boasts high ceilings, creating a wonderful sense of openness, and the tables are spaced relatively far apart, which is always a plus.

There were so many stylish tables and chairs, the kind you'd expect to see in a high-end furniture store. Each seating area had different pieces, making it fun to look around. Even the lighting and decorative objects felt thoughtfully chosen.

This area is reserved for the owner and staff.

And personally, what really caught my eye was the 'Oasis' poster! Is the owner an Oasis fan? Haha.

The self-service bar offered lemon water, napkins, and water glasses.
Cafe Bimi Dessert Lineup
Cafe Bimi boasts a pretty extensive dessert menu, from baked goods to cakes.

They have various baked treats like madeleines, financiers, and galettes.

And a tempting selection of cakes including Chestnut Chocolate Mont Blanc, Raspberry Mont Blanc, Coco Mango, Fig, Paris-Brest, Banny, Mille-feuille, and the Seasonal Peach Parfait. So many eye-catching desserts!
I was curious about the Mont Blancs and the fig dessert, but my sister had tried the Raspberry Mont Blanc during an earlier visit, so we decided to skip it this time. Since we both love peaches, we opted for the Seasonal Peach Parfait.
Cafe Bimi Menu

The menu offers coffee, various beverages, teas, and hand-drip coffee. I wasn't particularly drawn to the hand-drip options, so we kept it simple and ordered a Decaf Iced Americano and a Cosmos Blend Iced Americano.
There's an additional charge of ~$1 for the Cosmos Blend or for switching to decaf.
An Honest Review of Our Order

A short while later, a staff member brought our order directly to our table. The Peach Granita (likely referring to the peach parfait presentation) came with a rather unique and beautiful glass. I noticed that the cafe uses different types of glassware for various orders, which was quite fun to observe. It seemed like a lot of thought went into not just the space, but also the small details and serving ware.
However, to be honest, the coffee was just average for my taste.

Look at the size of that peach! It was enormous!

Due to its impressive size, the staff recommended pouring it onto a plate to eat.

I expected a soft, canned peach, but it was actually closer to a firm, fresh peach, making it a bit tricky to cut. Finally, it was time for the grand peach parfait cutting ceremony! The parfait was generously filled inside, and the peach itself was sweet. The overall composition was harmonious and definitely satisfying in terms of flavor.
However, there were a couple of drawbacks. I kept noticing a staff member at the counter frequently running their hands through their hair before immediately serving, which was a bit off-putting for me. Also, since there were no other seats available, we ended up near the restroom. The constant flow of customers in and out made it difficult to relax and enjoy our time comfortably.
It was one of those moments where I thought, 'For a hotspot like this, an open run is probably the way to go.' I feel like if I had visited during a quieter time and snagged a better seat, I could have fully appreciated the space and taken more photos, and the experience would have been completely different.

As I left the cafe, I took one last photo of the Jeollagamyeong view. While the space was undeniably beautiful and the peach parfait delicious, my visit felt a bit disappointing due to the overwhelming crowd. I'd definitely recommend trying to visit during off-peak hours for a more enjoyable experience.
