📌 The round trip can be quite strenuous, so it's a good idea to plan your route in advance.
I started from Jeongdongjin and only walked about halfway
before turning back. Depending on your stamina and next itinerary,
I recommend choosing either Jeongdongjin or Simgok as your starting point.
📌I went to the entrance on a cloudy day, but then suddenly a stormy rain hit,
and they immediately restricted entry.
More importantly, if the sky and sea aren't clear,
the unique scenic beauty might be diminished, which could be a shame, so
I recommend checking the weather forecast and visiting on a clear day!

Badabuchae-gil (Coastal Fan Path) Review
Visited in June

The colors of the Coastal Fan Path looked completely different when I visited on a cloudy day (the day before)
compared to a clear day (the next day).
On a clear day, the sea shimmered with a transparent brilliance, looking absolutely stunning.
I highly recommend visiting on a clear day if possible.

For me, walking the Badabuchae-gil (Coastal Fan Path)
was such a satisfying trek that I truly felt it was worth coming to Jeongdongjin for.
If you're contemplating a trip to Jeongdongjin,
you absolutely must add this course to your list!

I started from Jeongdongjin and headed towards Simgok Port,
and the path was longer than I expected.
However, there were photo zones along the way, making it perfect for a leisurely stroll with breaks.

Koreans just can't resist stacking rocks whenever they see them! Lol
Even in spots that didn't seem like designated wish-making places,
rock piles were stacked up. We made wishes too!

Looking forward, I saw the wide-open, crystal-clear ocean,
and turning back, dramatic coastal cliffs appeared, creating truly magnificent scenery.
(How did they even build a path like this along the coast...?
Truly amazing! I kept thinking as I walked, lol)

I visited on a hot midday in mid-June,
but since it's by the coast, the breeze was cool,
so it didn't feel suffocatingly hot.
(Though I did start to sweat after walking a bit...)
Still, for those who are sensitive to heat,
visiting in spring (April-May) or autumn (October-November)
would be perfect for a stroll.

The path from Jeongdongjin to Simgok Port is downhill,
and from Simgok Port to Jeongdongjin is uphill.
So, if you start from Jeongdongjin,
you'll get plenty of beautiful ocean views looking down.
There are also stairs along the way, so starting from Jeongdongjin,
as it's downhill, would likely be less strenuous.

Could the ocean possibly be this transparent...?
Looking down, it was just breathtakingly beautiful.

As you walk, you'll come across rest areas.
Lying under a sunshade, listening to the waves – it's pure heaven~
Just note that it says no drinking or eating...!!

I visited on a Sunday, and there were fewer people than I expected,
so I could enjoy a peaceful trek.
When I visited, there was construction going on,
and I wondered what was being built in the middle of the Bachaegil Trail.
I looked it up and found out a cafe has opened there!!
📍 Cafe Yoonseul
https://maps.app.goo.gl/2V7fkX68LtZJisYt8
It's a cafe with a stunning ocean view, and it's the only one on the Bachaegil Trail,
so I highly recommend it as a great place to take a break in the middle!!
Jeongdongjin definitely has fewer people than Gangneung or Sokcho, which is a big plus.
I've been visiting Jeongdongjin every summer since the year before last,
and each time I'm so satisfied that I plan to go again this year.
Jeongdongjin Hotel Recommendations by Price Range
Jeongdongjin doesn't have many accommodations,
so if you don't book in advance, you might not find a room.
Based on my experience, I'll recommend
three hotels that were most satisfying for different price ranges.
★Sun Cruise Hotel [~$69 - ~$138 price range]★
When you think of Jeongdongjin, this ship-shaped hotel immediately comes to mind.
The hotel itself is a tourist attraction, it's closest to the Bachaegil Trail entrance,
and the sunrise views from the rooms are absolutely spectacular!

★Stay Interview Jeongdongjin [~$69 price range]★
This place is already famous as a cafe, but the accommodations
are incredibly stylish too.
It's rare to find a place that offers such ocean views and aesthetic charm for around ~$69!!

★Jeongdongjin Solar View Hotel [Under ~$69]★
This place is sparkling clean as it's a newly built hotel,
perfectly located near the Buchaegil Trail,
and it's a fantastic value-for-money hotel where you can easily book a room for under ~$69.

The path operates from 9:00 AM to 5:30 PM during the summer season (April to October) and from 9:00 AM to 4:30 PM during the winter season (November to March). Entrance fees are ~$3 for adults, ~$3 for youth, and ~$2 for children.
It takes approximately 60 minutes one-way for an adult to walk the Badabuchae-gil. Starting from Jeongdongjin is recommended because the path towards Simgok Port is downhill, making it less strenuous, and offers many scenic ocean views.
Entry may be restricted during adverse weather conditions. To fully enjoy the clear, spectacular ocean views, it's best to visit on a clear day. Midway along the path, there is Cafe Yunseul, where you can enjoy ocean views, and there are also rest areas, but drinking alcohol and eating are prohibited.
Sun Cruise Hotel was recommended for the ~$69-~$138 range, Stay Interview Jeongdongjin for the ~$69 range, and Jeongdongjin Solar View Hotel for under ~$69. These hotels are characterized by being close to the Badabuchae-gil or offering excellent ocean views.
