Turin Car Rental Noleggiare Review: Barolo & Budget Tips
Planning a Barolo wine trip? Discover our experience with Noleggiare car rental in Turin, offering affordable rates (~$74/day) and crucial travel tips for 2026.
My Torino Car Rental Experience with Noleggiare
Hey there, explorers!
Today, I'm excited to share my review of
Noleggiare, a local Italian car rental company
I used in Torino.
I was able to book it for around ~$74 per day,
and it was quite affordable compared to other companies.
For tips on how to book it at a great price,
make sure to check out the booking guide below!
Typically, for a trip to Barolo,
travelers often rent a car from Milan.
However, we knew that driving too long
would make us tired.
So, we decided to take the train
from Milan to Torino and then rent our car there,
as Torino is actually closer to Barolo.
Since our Barolo trip followed our epic Dolomites adventure,
our travel theme was truly 'relaxation'!!!

Torino: A City Introduction
Torino was a city we briefly stopped in just to pick up our rental car,
but it quickly impressed us! It hosts international film festivals
and seems to be a popular destination
for business travelers.
We noticed many business hotels,
and compared to other Italian cities,
its subway system and public transportation facilities are incredibly well-developed!
💥Important Train Travel Tip💥
If you're traveling from Milan to Torino
by train,
be aware that there's another stop
before Torino Central Station,
so pay attention!
We actually got off a stop too early and had to take the subway
further to reach the central station!
Location
📍 Noleggiare
Via Magenta, 3/h, 10128 Torino TO, Italy
The Noleggiare car rental office is conveniently located
not far from the central station.
Torino Central Station itself is quite large,
featuring a market and plenty of restaurants.
We even grabbed some sushi there before returning our car and heading to Milan by train,
and it was surprisingly good!

Torino Noleggiare Office

Since we could only make it to the office in the late afternoon,
we were quite anxious, worrying that the specific car we booked might not be available.
Thankfully, our fears were unfounded!
There was just one group ahead of us, and after a short 10-minute wait,
it was our turn! We presented our pre-arranged documents,
and the process was quick and smooth, allowing us to get our car promptly.

📌Staff Friendliness
The staff wasn't overly friendly,
but certainly not unfriendly either – they were perfectly neutral and efficient.
Once the paperwork is done, they hand you the keys to your reserved vehicle,
and you simply head to the central station to pick it up yourself.
📌A Note on Google Reviews
If you check Noleggiare on Google Maps, you might notice quite a few negative reviews.
However, for foreigners like us who opt for full coverage insurance,
these negative comments are completely irrelevant.
Locals often don't take full coverage insurance because they already have their own existing policies,
and it seems that in those situations, they might encounter hidden fees or unexpected charges.
H.O.W.E.V.E.R., since we were
foreigners with full coverage insurance,
none of that applied to us!
Even upon returning the car, they didn't do a super thorough inspection.
Car Pickup
Pickup Location: Torino Central Station
You'll pick up your rental car right at Torino Central Station.
Once inside the station, you'll see a large supermarket directly ahead.
Look for an elevator on the outside that connects to the parking lot;
just take that down!

In the parking lot, look for the Noleggiare pink flag!

We received a Toyota Yaris Automatic,
exactly matching the specifications we had booked.
First thing we did after getting the car?
Change the language settings, of course!

The Car
Toyota Yaris
Here's a look at the car's interior.
While compact, it was comfortable and easy to drive,
and as a Japanese car, it felt quite familiar.
Unfortunately, the built-in navigation system
didn't have an internet connection, which was a bit of a bummer.
When driving in Italy, we found the Waze app to be much more convenient
than Google Maps for navigation,
so a pro tip: definitely bring a car phone holder with you!

Here's a shot of the car's rear on our last day!

Returning the Car
Returning the car was a breeze, as it was the same spot where we picked it up,
Turin Central Station,
so it wasn't difficult at all!

Once we finished returning the car,
I was a little worried about where to drop off the keys,
but luckily there was a staff member right behind me,
so I just handed them over to him. Easy peasy!

Refueling Tips & Fuel Cap Location
📌 How to Refuel
✔️ For gasoline, look for the green 'Super' pump.
You'll need to select your pump number at the prepaid machine
and pay beforehand.
✔️ Always pay with cash when refueling!
If you pay by card, they might deduct a 'maximum fee' (a pre-authorization),
which can be a bit unsettling until it's adjusted.
Most locals seemed to pay with cash, too.
Paying around 20 euros at a time usually works well.

The fuel cap location for a Toyota Yaris...
It took me a bit of searching to find it, so I've attached a photo to save you the trouble!
It's typically found under the driver's seat.

I've found Noleggiare super convenient, which is why I've used them several times in a row!
I've omitted some of the repetitive details from previous posts,
so this post might seem a bit simpler!
