Review: Taking the 8837 Bus to Dongtan

Navigating Incheon International Airport (인천국제공항) Terminal 2 (T2) for the first time can be a bit tricky, especially when it comes to finding your airport bus. I recently traveled from T2 to Dongtan (동탄) via the 8837 airport bus, and since it was my first time departing from T2 using the bus, I wanted to share a comprehensive guide. This post will cover where to catch the airport bus at Terminal 2, how to book your ticket, and my personal experience on the 8837 bus heading to Dongtan!

1. Incheon Airport Terminal 2 Airport Bus: Location & Booking Guide

First, if you're looking for the Incheon Airport Terminal 2 (T2) airport bus stop, you'll need to head to the B1 (Underground 1st Floor) Transportation Center, specifically towards the bus terminal area.

Unlike Terminal 1, where you can find the airport buses right outside the 1st-floor Arrivals Hall, T2 requires you to go underground. I actually walked out of the terminal and had to go back inside and down to B1, so I'm sharing this tip to save you the hassle!

While you can purchase airport bus tickets on-site, I always recommend booking in advance. Buses can fill up quickly, leaving you without a seat, especially during peak travel times.

You can conveniently pre-book your tickets using either the Tmoney GO app or the Bus Tag app. If your flight is delayed or you're facing unforeseen circumstances, you can also buy tickets on the spot at the B1 ticket counter or from a self-service kiosk.

Just remember, there's a risk that the bus might be fully booked!

2. My Experience on the 8837 Bus from Incheon Airport Terminal 2 to Dongtan

I used one of the apps to book my 8837 airport bus ticket from Incheon Airport Terminal 2 to Dongtan. When booking, you can select your preferred seat, so I opted for a single window seat, which is always my go-to choice!

Bus fares can vary slightly depending on your exact destination in Dongtan. The 8837 bus from T2 travels through Byeongjeom (병점) before reaching Dongtan 1 and then Dongtan 2.

You'll find the bus to Dongtan at Gate 38. When I arrived early, the display showed the 7000 bus, but about 5-10 minutes before departure, it switched to 8837. I simply scanned the QR code from my app and boarded without any issues!

The bus seats recline quite a bit, making for a comfortable journey, which is always a plus for airport transfers!

However, I happened to catch the bus around 5 PM, right during rush hour. As expected, there was significant traffic, especially around Seoul, and the bus was nearly full. This meant I arrived a bit later than anticipated.

Even with the traffic, I'm incredibly grateful for the convenience these airport buses offer, especially for travelers without a car!

Although the journey took longer than usual due to weekday evening rush hour, it was far more comfortable than dragging my luggage through multiple transfers.
