Exterior

I also took photos when I left at night.
You can see the loaches.

It even has its own private parking lot!

Right from the entrance,
there's a waiting list.
It seems they use Sindongjin rice, haha!
There's also *ppong튀기* (puffed rice snacks).

Jeongdam Myeongga Namwon Chueotang in Ongnyeon-dong, Incheon,
this was my second time visiting.
I had such a great memory from my previous visit,
so this time, my family of four and I went back again.

We arrived around 5 PM on a weekend evening,
and there were quite a few people waiting already.
We didn't get a completely private room,
but we were seated in a semi-private area, which was lovely.
Even though it wasn't a fully private room, it was cozy and quiet,
making it super comfortable for dining with kids.
Even during a busy time,
our separated seating meant
we could enjoy our meal without feeling cramped.

Self-Serve Bar

At Jeongdam Myeongga Chueotang,
the self-serve bar is incredibly well-stocked!
The self-serve bar has a variety of fresh vegetables and cabbage wraps,
which are perfect to enjoy with your *chueotang*.
Beyond that, there's also *chalborippang* (barley bread), *ppong튀기* (puffed rice snacks),
and even *sikhye* (sweet rice punch), so you can naturally
round off your meal with dessert.
With a focus on vegetables and healthy options,
it totally hit the spot for me!

Having coffee and *sikhye* (sweet rice punch) available means
you can enjoy everything from your main dish to dessert all in one place.
It's such a comprehensive setup that
I felt like I got amazing value.

Jeongdam Myeongga Namwon Chueotang's unique self-serve bar setup
definitely sets it apart from other *chueotang* restaurants.
Menu

Loach Soup ~$10
Whole Loach Soup ~$11
Handmade Pork Cutlet ~$10
Fried Loach ~$10
Fried Loach Dumplings ~$6
The Chueo Set Meal seems to come with smoked duck salad and
fried loach.
You can order using a tablet!

Side Dishes

You can enjoy some light tofu, and
since it's served warm,
it's truly delicious!

I made sure to grab some glutinous barley bread too!
If you eat it here, the cabbage with fermented hairtail guts is also surprisingly delicious.

Loach Soup

Each serving of loach soup comes neatly set up, including the side dishes.
It was a perfect arrangement, ready to eat without any extra fuss.
I loved it!
Add garlic, Cheongyang chili, the chives you brought, and some somyeon noodles.
You can also add sansho pepper powder, black pepper powder, and perilla seed powder,
according to your preference.

Since there's rice, you don't need to add too many somyeon noodles.

The thick broth,
with dried radish greens and chives,
offers a delightful texture to pick through.
The seasoning is on the slightly savory side.
Handmade Pork Cutlet

Many loach soup restaurants sell "chueo donkatsu" (loach pork cutlet),
but here, it's a handmade pork cutlet!
Since I had the kids with me,
this time, I ordered the pork cutlet for the first time.
It even came with french fries, which the kids adore!

You get two plump pork cutlets.
They also give you a whole bowl of rice.
The pork cutlet was truly a delightful surprise!

I didn't have high expectations since it was for the kids,
but the pork cutlet exceeded them!
It was quite thick,
crispy on the outside and incredibly juicy on the inside.
My husband, who considers "katsu" a serious affair, rates it among the best,
almost on par with the Tomahawk Katsu from Uncle Interkitchen in Songdo!
It was so thick and tender.
I never expected such high-quality pork cutlet from a loach soup restaurant.

Seriously, look at the thickness of this tonkatsu!

To sum it all up,
Jeongdam Myeongga Namwon Chueotang in Okryeon-dong, Incheon,
left me highly satisfied on my second visit too.
The Chueotang was still clean-tasting and hearty,
and the Tonkatsu I tried for the first time this visit
was unexpectedly delicious, making me feel like their menu options just got even wider!
It's also a fantastic spot for family outings with kids,
thanks to the self-service bar where you can enjoy a variety of sides,
making it a truly satisfying experience.
If you're looking for Chueotang or
a great family restaurant near Okryeon-dong, I highly recommend it!
Plus, with Forest Outings right next door,
it makes for a perfect day out! 😉
