When the cool breeze starts to blow in the mornings and evenings,

the first thing that comes to mind is often outdoor dining, isn't it?

Today, I'm excited to introduce you to an outdoor dining gem in Incheon's Guwol-dong,

Teolbone Ureok Gui Pocha (formerly Yeontan Gui Pocha).

Their signature dish is grilled whole rockfish,

cooked over a charcoal briquette fire.

It's a popular spot for those seeking an authentic outdoor dining experience in Incheon,

thanks to its old-school vibe and lovely outdoor tables perfect for a drink.

Today, I'll be sharing my honest, self-funded review of Teolbone Ureok Gui Pocha (formerly Yeontan Gui Pocha)!

Waiting Tips

As a famous outdoor dining spot in Incheon,

you should be prepared for a wait.

Head inside the store, and you'll find a waiting list notepad.

Jot down your name and contact number, and they'll call you when your turn comes.

We arrived on a Friday at 5 PM and waited for about 20 minutes.

✔️ On Fridays and Saturdays, table usage is limited to a maximum of 2 hours,

so please keep that in mind.

✔️ If you're visiting during peak dinner hours, I recommend arriving a bit earlier!

Exterior / Interior

Teolbone Ureok Gui Pocha is nestled in an alley behind Arts Center Station.

The large sign makes it easy to find.

There are a total of four outdoor tables,

and the atmosphere was truly wonderful, combining that unique old-school charm with the refreshing outdoor seating.

There's also a fair amount of indoor seating.

It was quite relaxed around 5 PM, but by the time we left, it was completely full.

The restroom inside was also spacious and well-maintained,

so there was no inconvenience in using it.

Menu & My Order

Teolbone Ureok Gui Pocha offers a diverse menu centered around seasonal seafood,

including grilled dishes, stews, steamed dishes, stir-fries, noodles, and seasonal specials.

You can place your order directly with the staff.

My Order

Review

Once we were shown to our table,

we saw that the charcoal briquette fire was already set up at our outdoor table.

There was also a fish tank near the entrance,

and it was so cleanly maintained,

it made us confident that the seafood would be incredibly fresh.

After ordering, a generous spread of complimentary side dishes (banchan) arrived.

From seasoned acorn jelly (mukmuchim), grilled tofu, a savory pancake (jeon), salad, radish kimchi (musaengchae), to broccoli – talk about an incredible spread of banchan!

And while we waited, they even brought out a refreshing and spicy bean sprout soup.

Sipping on that warm soup at an outdoor table is just perfection.

A bottle of soju vanishes in no time!

And then, the grilled rockfish, cooked over briquette coals!

They prepare the fresh rockfish and serve it whole,

and the visual impact is truly something else.

The sizes also come in regular, medium, and large,

so you can choose according to your party size.

While the rockfish is grilling, the Golbaengi Jjolmyeon (spicy whelk noodles) comes highly recommended too.

A delightful staff member will come over, put on gloves,

and vigorously mix it by hand.

With that personal touch, it's impossible for it not to taste incredible!

It's packed with vegetables like bean sprouts, carrots, perilla leaves, onions, cucumbers, and more,

and the sauce is spicy and sweet, which really whets your appetite.

The whelks are also generously sized, so when you take a bite, they're wonderfully chewy!

Once the rockfish is perfectly grilled to a golden brown,

a staff member comes over to inspect it, and the meat effortlessly comes off the bone.

The rockfish itself is lightly seasoned,

so the way to eat it is by dipping it in the soy sauce and wasabi that comes with it.

Personally, while the visual was absolutely fantastic,

I found the flavor a bit mild, which was a slight shame.

However, if you're someone who enjoys the natural taste of seafood,

you might actually love it even more!

The Gyeran-mari (rolled omelet) costs ~$13, so it's a bit on the expensive side,

but its size is so enormous, you'd think they used a whole carton of eggs to make it! (I seriously thought it was a brick!)

It's packed with vegetables and layered thickly,

making it satisfying and delicious.

Overall Verdict

For those looking for an outdoor pocha (tent pub) experience in Incheon or a pub in Guwol-dong,

this is a place I'd highly recommend.
