Hi everyone! I'm Ciel, your travel influencer!
Today, I'm sharing my experience exchanging Chinese Yuan for my trip to Xi'an,
specifically at Incheon International Airport Terminal 2.
I'll be reviewing the "Hana Bank" branch there.

💵Incheon Airport Terminal 2 Hana Bank Currency Exchange
Recommended for:
✔︎Those looking to exchange a small amount, like 100 Chinese Yuan
✔︎Existing Hana Bank customers
On my last trip to Shanghai, I barely used any cash because Alipay is so widely accepted throughout China. For my upcoming Xi'an adventure, I debated whether to even bother with cash. However, just in case, I decided to exchange a small amount.
Hana vs. Kookmin vs. Woori Bank
Comparing Banks for Minimum Exchange Amounts
‼️I checked these rates on 09/07/2026, around the same time of day‼️

Hana Bank

The first bank I'll introduce for currency exchange is
the one I chose: Hana Bank.
(Woori Bank actually offered the best rate, but I made a "silly mistake" and didn't check!)
The minimum exchange amount was 100 Chinese Yuan, and
with a 30% exchange rate discount,
100 Chinese Yuan cost me approximately ~$15.

KB Kookmin Bank

Next up was Kookmin Bank.
Like Hana Bank, the minimum exchange was 100 Chinese Yuan.
While they offered a 50% exchange rate discount,
exchanging 100 Chinese Yuan here cost approximately ~$15.

Woori Bank

Finally, I checked Woori Bank.
They also had a minimum exchange of 100 Chinese Yuan,
with a 50% exchange rate discount.
Ultimately, 100 Chinese Yuan cost approximately ~$15 here too.
In conclusion, Woori Bank offered the slightly cheapest rate!
So, which bank did I end up choosing?
Honestly, before I even did this comparison, I usually use Hana Bank's Travelog card for overseas trips.
So, without much thought, I just went ahead and exchanged my money at Hana Bank!
I guess I was just drawn to the familiarity and didn't bother to compare beforehand, haha.
I might have spent a tiny bit more due to my "silly mistake,"
but thankfully, the difference wasn't significant.
While Woori Bank was technically the cheapest,
the rates at Hana Bank, Kookmin Bank, and Woori Bank were all very close.
So, you can probably just stick with whichever bank you're most comfortable using.
How to Exchange Currency at Hana Bank

First, open the Hana Bank mobile app.
From the menu, find "Foreign Exchange" and select "Currency Purchase/Exchange."
Then, enter the amount you wish to exchange.
Finally, specify your foreign currency pickup location and date, and you're all set!
Pretty straightforward, right?

✔︎ My Review of Hana Bank Currency Exchange at Incheon Airport Terminal 2
I'd heard that when exchanging 100 Chinese Yuan, they usually don't provide smaller denominations like 10 Yuan notes.
But just in case, I asked if it was possible to get 10 Yuan notes.
Luckily, someone had just exchanged 10 Yuan notes right before me, so the timing was perfect!
The staff member was incredibly helpful and exchanged my 100 Yuan into ten 10-Yuan notes, which I really appreciated.
These days, I often use my Travelog card to withdraw cash from ATMs once I'm at my destination,
so it's been a while since I've exchanged currency at a bank.
I've sometimes encountered less-than-friendly service at currency exchange counters in the past,
but the Hana Bank exchange counter at Incheon Airport Terminal 2 this time was fantastic.
The staff were so kind and made the start of my trip truly pleasant.
So, if you need to exchange currency, I definitely recommend Hana Bank!
