And we found a similar gem at Gurney Plaza!

Let me introduce you to

HOOGA, a brand brimming with Nordic vibes.

What kind of brand is HOOGA?

HOOGA is a

Nordic-inspired home furnishing brand that

started in Singapore and has since become

incredibly popular in Malaysia.

It was born from the Danish word 'Hygge',

which embodies comfort and coziness.

It's a brand that beautifully blends

minimalist Nordic design with

Southeast Asian practicality.

What really stands out is their exquisite material selection,

thoughtfully chosen to suit Malaysia's hot and humid climate.

HOOGA Locations

There are two HOOGA stores

within Penang.

You'll find them at Gurney Plaza, which I visited, and

Queensbay Mall to the south.

Operating hours are the same as each mall's opening hours.

Exploring the Store

The HOOGA store, located on the

3rd floor of Gurney Plaza,

is beautifully decorated with a clean yet charming aesthetic.

The eye-catching display right at the entrance is impressive,

and it changes with a new theme every season.

The store is thoughtfully divided into sections for different spaces

like the living room, bedroom, kitchen, and bathroom, making it super easy to explore.

What I found particularly impressive was

the large, separate section dedicated entirely

to diffusers and fragranced products.

It was organized so luxuriously and neatly,

much like a perfume store, which made

browsing an absolute delight!

Popular Products

They say the most popular products are their

bedding sets.

Characterized by pastel colors and subtle patterns,

their cool-material duvet covers and pillowcases

are especially popular, perfectly suited for Malaysia's hot weather.

There are also plenty of adorable fabric products

and interior decor items for kids.

Recommended Products

Although I couldn't capture them in photos,

it seems their towels are very popular

among local homemakers.

They are made from 100% pure cotton,

known for their excellent absorbency and

resistance to pilling even after multiple washes.

Even small items like photo frames and clocks boasted

so many unique yet modern designs,

I found myself wanting to take quite a few of them home!

And oh, the decorative objects

perfect for adorning any table –

so many fantastic finds!

The section I had the most fun exploring was definitely

the kitchenware corner.

Here, you can find dishes, cups, and other items that are

simple yet infused with stunning design elements,

all available at incredibly reasonable prices.

Why is it that no matter how many cups I have,

I always want more?

The cups, in particular, boasted so many uniquely designed pieces

that I found myself coveting quite a few!

For kitchen accessories,

I highly recommend their wooden cutlery and ceramic dishes.

The natural wood grain and matte ceramics beautifully complement

any table setting, adding a touch of sophisticated warmth.

The small bowl sets, in particular,

are perfect for serving sauces or side dishes,

and I hear they're quite popular with Korean customers!

The lighting products are another one

of HOOGA's hidden gems.

Their LED mood lights cast a warm glow, creating an incredibly cozy atmosphere,

and since they're rechargeable, you can even take them outdoors!

The table lamps, with their minimalist designs,

seamlessly blend into any space,

making them perfect for your desk or bedside table.

Price Range and Shopping Tips

HOOGA's price point falls within the

mid-low to mid-high range, offering great value for quality.

Small decorative pieces start from around 10 Ringgit,

while bedding can be purchased for around 100-300 Ringgit.

Keep an eye out for their off-season sales, where you can snag

30-50% discounts! Timing your visit perfectly means

you can shop even more economically and bring home fantastic finds.

What truly makes HOOGA special is the opportunity to discover

practical, Nordic-designed products at such reasonable prices.

It's not located right in the heart of Georgetown, so you might not need to make a special trip,

but I definitely recommend stopping by if you find yourself in the vicinity!

Picking up just one small souvenir from this delightful place during your travels

and bringing it back into your daily life could become a truly special memory.
