Among all the incredible experiences on our recent family trip to Vietnam, the Halong Bay cruise tour truly stood out as the most memorable highlight.

While Halong Bay offers a variety of cruise options, we specifically chose the Ambassador Cruise, known for its extensive positive reviews and high overall satisfaction, especially since we were traveling with our parents.

A typical Halong Bay day cruise itinerary generally follows this schedule:

Normally, guests are picked up from a designated location and transferred to the cruise embarkation point. For those departing from Hanoi, it's best to select a package that includes the convenient pickup option.

The Ambassador Cruise is one of the largest vessels in Halong Bay, featuring four decks and even a small outdoor swimming pool.

Even on a day trip, you have the option to add a cabin for resting throughout the journey. Since we were traveling with our parents, we found this additional comfort to be well worth it.

Cabins

We opted for a Deluxe Room, which was spacious enough for four of us with two comfortable beds.

The highlight was definitely the private terrace, offering direct ocean views that our parents particularly loved. Adding a cabin is highly recommended!

The Tour Highlights

The first stop on our tour was Sung Sot Cave (Surprise Cave), which we reached by transferring to a smaller boat.

The rock formations and emerald green waters we passed during the transfer were truly unique and stunning.

Sung Sot Cave, aptly named "Surprise Cave," is a UNESCO World Natural Heritage site.

It's comprised of three distinct chambers, each showcasing unique stalactites and stalagmites that are fascinating to behold.

The cave exploration takes approximately 40 minutes to an hour, after which we proceeded to Titop Island.

Titop Island features a panoramic viewpoint overlooking the entire island, but be prepared for a climb of around 400 steps to reach it.

If a strenuous climb isn't for you, simply enjoying a leisurely stroll along the beach is a wonderful alternative.

For meals, each group is provided with their own table, which was perfect for our family.

The meal was served buffet-style, offering a diverse selection of Vietnamese and Western dishes. Overall, the food was quite good.

Throughout our entire trip, this cruise tour was by far the most satisfying experience for both my family and me.

While a day trip is certainly enjoyable, I believe opting for an overnight stay allows for a more relaxed and immersive experience, which is an excellent choice.
