When you're searching for **family accommodation in Gyeongju**, you'll naturally come across many options in the Bomun Tourist Complex area, known for its excellent accessibility.
This time, instead of a trip focused on visiting many tourist spots, I opted for a more relaxed itinerary, and decided to try out the **Gyeongju Sonokam Family View Free** room.
Usually, I plan intensive, experience-focused trips tailored to my child's preferences, but for this Gyeongju trip, I decided to focus more on healing and relaxation.
Today, I'll break down the Gyeongju Sonokam Family View Free room, including the **pros and cons of the room** and the **price differences across various platforms** that I personally compared.

2. Family View Free Room Configuration: 2 Singles, 1 Double |
3. A Room with Cooking Facilities, but a Small Kitchen |

1. Why I Chose the Gyeongju Sonokam Family View Free Room

The biggest reason I chose Gyeongju Sonokam was because it's located in the Bomun Tourist Complex, making it easy to incorporate into my Gyeongju travel itinerary, and it seemed like a great place to relax within the accommodation itself.

The lobby was spacious and felt open, and past the check-in counter, there was a cafe and a lounge area.

If you head towards the elevators, you'll also find **Cafe Orot**, which offers a view of Bomun Lake. It was perfect for enjoying coffee and spending time without even needing to leave the resort.

The room type I used this time was the **Family View Free**. While the name 'View Free' might make you anticipate a particular view, it's actually more about making a practical and reasonable room choice rather than focusing on the view.

Gyeongju Sonokam boasts such beautiful landscaping that simply enjoying the Pool & Spa and taking a stroll around the resort grounds was enough to make up for any lack of a premium view.
2. Family View Free Room Configuration: 2 Singles, 1 Double

The Gyeongju Sonokam Family View Free room featured a configuration with **two single beds and one double bed**.

Two single beds were placed side-by-side opposite the TV and dining table, while the double bed area was separated by a sliding door.

Although the double bed space felt almost entirely filled by the bed itself, having a separate sleeping area felt like a real plus for a family trip.
Our family of three stayed here, and even for a family of four, the bed setup wouldn't feel lacking, making it perfectly fine for those traveling with children.

The single bed on the left was against the wall, offering a bit more security for putting a child to sleep, and the nightstand between the beds and the vanity had outlets, which was super convenient for using a humidifier and chargers.

The bedding condition was absolutely perfect for a luxurious 'Hocance' (hotel staycation)!
Every time I stay at a Sono-affiliated property, I'm reminded of how wonderfully soft and plush their bedding is.
3. Kitchenette Available, But a Bit Compact
The Gyeongju Sono Calm Family Viewfree is a room where you can cook.
However, it felt more suited for simple cooking rather than preparing full-fledged meals.

The room features a dining table for four, and on the table, you'll find tableware, a coffee pot, and a wine opener.
In the kitchen area, you'll find a small frying pan, a pot, a pot holder, a cutting board, a knife, scissors, a ladle, a spatula, detergent, a scrubber, and a dishcloth.
Dishes and cups for four people were also provided.
There's no rice cooker or microwave in the room, so if you plan to use instant rice (like Hetbahn) or other convenience foods, you'll need to use the facilities near the underground convenience store.

The refrigerator had a separate freezer, making it surprisingly spacious, so there was plenty of room for fruits, drinks, and alcoholic beverages.
4. Room Price Comparison Across Platforms (Same Conditions)
When booking accommodation, you'll often find that even for the same hotel and room, the final payment amount can vary across different websites.
So, I've compared prices for the Gyeongju Sono Calm Family Viewfree room, based on the same room type and dates.

MyRealTrip shows a price of ~$135 with no additional discount codes, while Trip.com offers the room for ~$125 if you apply the hotel 12% discount promotion when paying with Kakao Pay.
Category | MyRealTrip | Trip.com |

Date | Same Date | Same Date |
Price | ~$135 | ~$125 |
Additional Discount | - | 12% hotel discount when paying with Kakao Pay |
Price Difference | - | Approx. ~$10 Cheaper |
Based on the final price you'd actually pay, there was a difference of approximately ~$10.

5. What I Loved and What I Wished For During My Stay
What I loved about the Sonoham Gyeongju Family View Free room was how clean it was overall.
Perhaps because it hadn't been long since the renovation, both the room and bathroom were comfortable to use without any major inconveniences.

The bathroom featured a shower stall instead of a bathtub, and basic amenities were provided.
Towels were provided as standard, and for a two-night stay, there was no separate room cleaning, but if extra towels were needed, they were brought to the room upon request by phone.

Another great feature was the laundry drying rack.
Hidden behind the curtain on the right side of the bed, the drying rack came in handy for drying swimsuits or wet clothes after using the Pool & Spa.

The View Free room windows faced the back, not Bomun Lake, so the room I stayed in had a view of the road and parking lot.

If a view is important to you when choosing accommodation, consider a Lake View room!
6. When Sonoham Gyeongju is Perfect for Family Stays
The Sonoham Gyeongju Family View Free type is ideal for those looking for a comfortable family room rather than expecting a spectacular view.
With two single beds and one double bed, it's suitable for a family of four, and the simple cooking facilities make it practical for trips with children.
I highly recommend it, especially if you're looking for accommodation near Gyeongju's Bomun Complex or if your family trip involves a "hocance" (hotel vacation) where you relax and unwind within the hotel.
However, the View Free rooms, as the name suggests, are more focused on price and practicality than on the view.
If the view is important to you, it's a good idea to compare it with the Lake View room type. But if you're looking for a more reasonable price, the Family View Free can still be an excellent choice.
If your travel itinerary is somewhat confirmed, I recommend booking in advance and then considering your options, as you can apply the 5% discount code TOSSH5 when paying with TossPay until May 31st, and the free cancellation period is also generous.

Sonoham Gyeongju Overall Review
The Sonoham Gyeongju Family View Free room's strengths were its bed configuration, suitable for families of up to four, and its clean room condition.
As a View Free room, it's best to temper expectations regarding the view, but it was perfectly fine for a practical family stay in Gyeongju.
In my experience, Sonoham-affiliated hotels and resorts generally offer high satisfaction in terms of bedding, facilities, and basic services. So, if you're planning a family "hocance" (hotel vacation) in Gyeongju to relax with your children, I believe Sonoham Gyeongju is definitely worth considering.
