Gyeongju 2-Day Itinerary 2026: Munmu Daewangneung & Seongdong Market
Continue your Gyeongju adventure on day two, exploring the vibrant Seongdong Market, the historic Munmu Daewangneung, and the stunning Columnar Joint Coast.

Here's a recap of my adventure on Day 2 of my Gyeongju trip, where I explored Gyeongju Seongdong Catholic Church, Seongdong Market, Sonobelle Gyeongju, a delightful Ssambap restaurant, and the historic Tomb of King Munmu!
To catch up on Day 1, which focused on the incredible Gyeongju National Museum, simply click the link below!

This is the breathtaking view I enjoyed from the balcony of the Kyowon Dream Center on the first day of my Gyeongju adventure.

Since it was Sunday, I made my way to church.
I'd heard whispers of a delicious gimbap spot in Seongdong Market, so I thought, why not combine my Sunday service with a tasty takeout adventure? I found a nearby church and decided to pay it a visit!

Mass Times

There's something uniquely refreshing and joyful about attending Mass in a new city!
Listening to a new priest's sermon and participating in Mass in an unfamiliar church has truly become an enriching part of my travel experiences.

Oh, and markets? They're always bursting with delicious treats, aren't they?
Gyeongju, in particular, is home to some legendary gimbap spots. Everyone raves about the egg gimbap from Gyori Gimbap!
Now, it's totally a matter of personal taste, but I absolutely fell in love with the burdock gimbap from Myeongdong Gimbap at Seongdong Market!

That burdock gimbap, packed with so much delicious burdock, was my absolute favorite, even more so than the egg gimbap! Though, for little explorers, the egg gimbap might be the ultimate crowd-pleaser.

I was just planning to drop off my bags and head out, but to my delight, they offered us an early check-in, perhaps because a room was already available!

And let me tell you, the view overlooking Bomun Lake was absolutely magnificent!

This lake view truly gives any ocean view a run for its money!

And here's another fantastic perk of staying at Sonobelle: Daemyung Aqua World!
We saved the swimming pool fun for the next day.
Once we settled in, we headed straight to Hyundae Ssambap, a wonderful restaurant conveniently located near the magnificent Bulguksa Temple.

This restaurant is located near Bulguksa Temple.
We chose it because it serves grilled fish and sashimi, making it a place where both kids and adults can enjoy a satisfying meal. We initially considered seeing Bulguksa first, but decided to have our meal here on the way back from Munmu Daewangneung (King Munmu's Underwater Tomb).
Hyeondae Ssambap Menu

Their main menu items are grilled fish or a grilled fish + sashimi set.

The perfectly browned grilled fish and sashimi ssam bap came with various sea vegetables, and eating them together felt incredibly healthy.
The kids especially loved the grilled fish and ate it with great relish.

Munmu Daewangneung is one of those places you absolutely must visit with your kids when you come to Gyeongju.

However, once you actually arrive, beyond the distant view of Munmu Daewangneung, there isn't really much else to see.

We captured some photos of the kids as a souvenir.
About a 5-minute drive away, there's a place called Jusangjeolli Cliff Wave Sound Road, so we decided to check it out.
Wave Sound Road
405-5 Eupcheon-ri, Yangnam-myeon, Gyeongju-si, Gyeongbuk
Eupcheon Port -> Haseo Port

This path stretches for about 1.7km from Eupcheon Port to Haseo Port.
It's beautifully maintained with pavilions, benches, and deck roads, making it a wonderful place to listen to the waves, admire the columnar joints, and enjoy a leisurely stroll.

If I included Bulguksa Temple, there would be too many photos and the post would get too long, so I'll wrap it up here for now.
I've introduced you to our Day 2 itinerary in Gyeongju, covering Seongdong Catholic Church, Seongdong Market, Sonobelle Gyeongju, Hyeondae Ssambap, and Munmu Daewangneung.
I'll cover Bulguksa Temple, Cheomseongdae Observatory, and Sonobelle's amenities in the next part!
Thank you for visiting today.
Leave a comment, and I'll be sure to visit your blog in return!
