Gyeongju (경주) Accommodation Recommendation: Hwanglidan-gil (황리단길) Deluxe Twin Room Review

As you plan your trip to Gyeongju,
you're probably wondering where to stay, right?
I wanted to fully immerse myself in the Gyeongju vibe,
from Daereungwon (대릉원) to Cheomseongdae (첨성대) and Hwanglidan-gil,
so I chose Gyeongju City Hotel (경주시티호텔), located right in the city center!
Having stayed there myself, I can say the rooms were spotless,
and it's especially convenient for those who plan to explore the main attractions on foot.
Its location is a major plus!

1. Recommended Accommodation Location in Gyeongju

If you have a car, staying at the Bomun Tourist Complex (보문관광단지) or Gampo (감포) is perfectly fine,
but if you're exploring Gyeongju on foot,
I highly recommend staying in the city center.
After arriving at Gyeongju Station (경주역) and heading into the city center,
using your accommodation as a base makes it easy to visit key attractions
like Daereungwon, Cheonmachong (천마총), Cheomseongdae, Donggung Palace and Wolji Pond (동궁과월지), and Hwanglidan-gil all in one go.

I personally enjoyed walking the route from Hwanglidan-gil → Daereungwon → Cheomseongdae.
This route is especially beautiful in autumn.
When I visited, autumn foliage was everywhere,
making the walk itself feel like a wonderful journey! Haha.
If you visit mid-to-late October,
be sure to also check out the pink muhly grass around Cheomseongdae!

Near Gyeongju city center,
there aren't many new accommodations or proper hotels,
but Gyeongju City Hotel, which opened in March 2025,
is a brand-new 3-star hotel!
2. Gyeongju City Hotel Deluxe Twin Room

The room I stayed in was a Deluxe Twin Room.
As soon as I entered the room, I noticed
the clean overall white and gray tones!
The room condition was indeed very clean and excellent.
The beds are separated, so it seemed convenient
for friends traveling together
or for family trips.

With a large window, plenty of natural light came in during the day.
There was also a long table below the TV, which was great for placing luggage.

The room was fully equipped with a TV, refrigerator, safe, and electric kettle.
There was also a separate vanity area,
which was perfect for us as two women traveling together. Hehe!

The bathroom had a separated shower area.
Shampoo, conditioner, and body wash were all provided,
and the amenity set was quite comprehensive, including toothbrushes and toothpaste.
It's easy to forget small toiletries when traveling,
so these details were surprisingly convenient.

Breakfast was served from 7 AM to 9 AM,
at the breakfast restaurant on the 1st floor.
The price was ₩15,000 (~$11) per person, free for children aged 7 and under,
and it was a Korean buffet style.

You know how hard it is to find parking in Gyeongju (경주) city center, right?
But parking is available here,
so it's a great option for those traveling to Gyeongju
by car too, haha!
3. Gyeongju City Hotel (경주시티호텔) Price Comparison
Booking Site | Price | Booking Link |
Agoda | ₩126,900 (~$95) | |
Trip.com | ₩112,600 (~$84) |
When I compared based on a Deluxe Twin Room stay on November 1st,
Trip.com was the cheapest at ₩112,600 (~$84),
and there was a ₩29,900 (~$22) difference compared to Yeogi Eottae (여기어때).
For ₩20,000-₩30,000 (~$15-$22), you can get a meal or even
a cafe visit in Gyeongju, so the difference is quite significant, isn't it?

However, hotel prices constantly change depending on the stay date and available rooms,
as well as cancellation policies,
so rather than the amount I checked, I recommend
comparing the final payment amount for your specific travel dates :)

Here's How I Traveled from Gyeongju City Hotel
If you've chosen accommodation in the city center,
you don't need to overthink your travel itinerary.
I'd combine them in this order: Daereungwon Tomb Complex (대릉원) · Cheonmachong Tomb (천마총) → Hwanglidan-gil Street (황리단길)
→ Cheomseongdae Observatory (첨성대) → Donggung Palace and Wolji Pond (동궁과월지) at Night.

During the day, explore Daereungwon and Hwanglidan-gil,
and for Donggung Palace and Wolji Pond, it's great to visit from sunset to
enjoy the night view.
Hwanglidan-gil is bustling with everything from cafes with great ambiance to snacks,
and souvenir shops, making it perfect
for taking breaks in between.
Eating is important too, right, haha!
My recommendations are
Gyeongju Eobo (경주어보) if you want grilled mackerel,
Cheongonchae (청온채) for Dakhanmari (whole chicken soup),
and Mugungmujins (무궁무진) for Western food.

If the accommodation itself is the main purpose of your trip to Gyeongju,
then a resort in the Bomun Complex (보문단지) or a 5-star hotel would be great. However,
if your itinerary involves exploring Hwanglidan-gil and many major tourist attractions,
I recommend staying in the city center, like Gyeongju City Hotel.
Especially for Gyeongju trips where sightseeing time outweighs time spent at the accommodation,
I tend to prioritize location and price, and by those standards,
I was quite satisfied :)
