Hello everyone~
It's the end of March, and cherry blossom news is blooming everywhere.
The cherry blossoms in Gyeongju have also started to bloom,
and full bloom is just around the corner!🌸
Gyeongju is filled with beautiful spots everywhere,
and when you combine that with the unique atmosphere
created by Gyeongju, the city of history, it just makes the place even more special.
I also went on a cherry blossom trip to Gyeongju last year.💛
I'll be sharing my Gyeongju cherry blossom travelogue, focusing on the places I personally visited!
📌 My 2024 Visit Review
00. Introduction - Gyeongju Cherry Blossom Blooming & Full Bloom Period
🌸 Expected Full Bloom Periods for Gyeongju Cherry Blossom Hotspots 🌸
Gyeongju City Center Area (Heungmuro, Oreung, Daereungwon)
👉🏻 Last weekend of March (March 29-30)
Outskirt Areas (Hwangnyongwon, Bomun Complex, Bulguksa Temple)
👉🏻 Early April, first weekdays (April 1-3)
Gyeongju Cherry Blossom Updates

📌 This year, the blooming and full bloom in the city center are quite early,
so as of March 28th, Heungmuro, Oreung, and Daereungwon are
said to be almost at full bloom.
You can catch these spots at full bloom this weekend.
The Daereungwon Festival is scheduled for the first weekend of April...?!
By then, they might have already faded, or
if you're lucky, you might just catch them as they're starting to fall.🥹
📌 For Bulguksa Temple, Bomun Complex, and Hwangnyongwon areas,
full bloom is expected in early April.
Next week's weekdays are likely to be the peak.
💡 Additionally,
The Gyeongju local government, truly dedicated to cherry blossom tourism,
uploads detailed photos of the real-time cherry blossom blooming status every two days,
which is super helpful for planning your visit!

01. Hwangnyongwon

Cherry Blossom Road in front of Hwangnyongwon
📍 (Hwangnyongwon) 40 Expo-ro, Gyeongju-si, Gyeongsangbuk-do
👉🏻 To be precise, if you navigate to The K Hotel Bus Stop,
you'll arrive at the exact spot in the photo.
📍 Hwangnyongwon
40 Expo-ro, Gyeongju-si, Gyeongsangbuk-do
Among Gyeongju's cherry blossom spots these days,
Hwangnyongwon seems to be the hottest and most popular place.
The majestic appearance of Hwangnyongwon
combined with the cherry blossoms surrounding it, creates a unique and beautiful view
that you won't find anywhere else – it's truly exotic
and offers a stunning vista.
So, if you're ever in Gyeongju,
this is a place I highly recommend visiting at least once
(A drive here is also highly recommended!)

The most popular photo zone is
📌 the road across from Hwangnyongwon.
If you capture it with a diagonal composition,
it turns out beautifully! ✨
Since Hwangnyongwon has a dark color palette,
if you wear bright colors,
your photos will likely turn out even better~~

Just a heads-up, because it's so beautiful and a popular spot,
it tends to be quite busy with international tourists, families,
and couples on dates.
Expect it to be somewhat crowded.
If you want to take photos without anyone else in the frame,
you'll need to visit early in the morning or
go on a weekday.

This photo was taken from the roadside near Hwangnyongwon!
From this side, Hwangnyongwon is too close,
making it difficult to capture good portrait shots.
However, since there are fewer people here,
it was a bit nicer for a leisurely stroll~

Since the Hwangnyongwon Cherry Blossom Path is quite long,
some people were enjoying it by riding **bikes**!
I didn't rent a bike;
I leisurely took photos and strolled around,
spending about 30 minutes to 1 hour there.
There aren't many dedicated spots to sit and rest,
so if you consider parking and getting around,
I think about an hour should be plenty of time.
02. Bomun Tourist Complex

Bomun Tourist Complex
📍 Sinpyeong-dong, Gyeongju-si, Gyeongbuk
📍 Bomun Tourist Complex
Sinpyeong-dong, Gyeongju-si, Gyeongsangbuk-do
A special tourist zone developed around Bomun Lake,
also famous as a cherry blossom spot.
The **cherry blossom view surrounding the artificial lake** is stunning,
it felt like a **small cherry blossom kingdom** 🌟

Strolling around, enjoying the cherry blossoms and the refreshing lake together,
it felt incredibly healing 🌸
You can also ride **duck boats** on Bomun Lake,
and enjoying a duck boat ride while admiring the cherry blossoms
would surely be a special experience.

Near the entrance of the Bomun Tourist Complex, in front of Starbucks,
the stream and cherry blossoms were also beautiful..💞

Within the Bomun Tourist Complex,
there are so many cherry blossoms everywhere,
making it great for a leisurely stroll around!

Bomun Lake is quite large,
the walking paths are well-maintained,
and there are plenty of spots to sit and rest, as well as cafes,
making it a **wonderful place to spend your time**.
I also spent the most time at this spot!
03. Daereungwon Stone Wall Path

Daereungwon Stone Wall Path
📍 493-26 Hwangnam-dong, Gyeongju-si, Gyeongbuk
📍 Daereungwon Stone Wall Path
493-26 Hwangnam-dong, Gyeongju-si, Gyeongsangbuk-do
One of the first spots that comes to mind when you think of Gyeongju's cherry blossoms!
It's a place where you can enjoy **cherry blossoms, stone walls, and ancient tombs all together**,
making it perhaps the **most distinctly Gyeongju-style cherry blossom spot**.
While it's not a grand or long cherry blossom path,
where else would you find such a cherry blossom view..!!🩷

A cherry blossom festival is held here every year.
There are food stalls and booths to explore.
👉🏻 2025 Daereungwon Stone Wall Path Cherry Blossom Festival 👈🏻
📌 Friday, 2025/04/04 - Sunday, 06
Please note, **parking** can be quite challenging,
so make sure to research in advance before visiting.
Allow plenty of time for your schedule before and after.
The nearby public parking lots were completely full,
and even the private ones were almost full too..🥺

This place is right next to Gyeongju's most famous tourist spot,
**Hwanglidan-gil**,
and with the festival, it was **the most crowded**.
Since you're already traveling to Gyeongju,
it would be great to explore Hwanglidan-gil as well.
(I've been here many times, so I focused on the cherry blossoms, haha.)
04. Oreung Stone Wall Path

Oreung Stone Wall Path
📍 58-2 Tapdong, Gyeongju-si, Gyeongbuk
📍 Oreung Stone Wall Path
58-2 Tapdong, Gyeongju-si, Gyeongsangbuk-do
This is a place where you can enjoy a **more peaceful**
**cherry blossom stone wall path** than the Daereungwon Stone Wall Path.
It's slowly been gaining popularity by word of mouth
since the year before last, so quite a few people come,
but it's still relatively quieter than Daereungwon, where festivals are held!

I visited on a Friday night,
and perhaps because it was nighttime, there was nobody else around.
Since last year, beautiful lights have been installed
as part of a streetscape improvement project, so you can enjoy the cherry blossoms
in a **charming atmosphere** even at night.

While the night view is beautiful,
I think it would be absolutely stunning during the day too...!
I only managed to visit at night due to my schedule, but
💡 if you get the chance, I highly recommend checking it out during the day as well!
So far, we've explored some amazing cherry blossom spots in Gyeongju.
They're all so incredibly beautiful, aren't they? ✨👍🏻
In fact, Gyeongju is renowned for its cherry blossoms,
so in addition to these places, there are many other beautiful spots like Bulguksa Temple, Heungmu-ro, Bomunjeong Pavilion, and more.
I recommend choosing the spots that best suit
your personal taste and travel itinerary!
So, I hope you all have a wonderful cherry blossom weekend! 🌸
