Discovering BREATH COFFEE WORKS: A Must-Visit Spacious Cafe in Gyeongju
My Adventure to the Filming Location of
After a delicious meal in Gyeongju and a fun time at Gyeongju World,
the rain suddenly started pouring down, lol!
So, I thought we should wait until it stopped,
and while looking for a nearby cafe, we stumbled upon BREATH COFFEE WORKS.
It wasn't raining around the cafe at all~
The weather near Gyeongju World was still pretty gloomy though,
so we decided to pop in since we were in the area hehe.
Why I Chose BREATH COFFEE WORKS & Basic Information

It was raining, so I searched for 'Gyeongju cafe' and ended up here, lol!
The weather here is absolutely lovely. (But it was still pouring near Gyeongju World...)

BREATH COFFEE WORKS: Waiting & Atmosphere
We visited around 2:10 PM on a weekend.
There were so many people that finding a seat was quite a challenge.
The queue for ordering was incredibly long too.
Waiting = Securing a Seat + Ordering
It took us about 15 ~ 20 minutes.
While it wasn't an excessively long wait,
if you're with companions, I recommend splitting up to tackle it more efficiently.

Even for a spacious cafe, the interior isn't overwhelmingly huge,
and it's smaller compared to some of the massive cafes in Busan,
but it's still a charmingly beautiful modern cafe.
It's also a place that appeared as a filming location for the drama .
The first floor houses the counter, dessert display, and restrooms,
and with so many people moving around, it was quite bustling.
The second-floor seating seemed relatively more relaxed.
However, the second floor has a bit of an echo, so the noise level was pretty similar...!
I think there were about 3~4 private spaces on the second floor,
but they were all occupied, so I couldn't snap any photos of them.

There's also an outdoor area on the second floor, perfect for a light stroll
and getting some fresh air.
Filming Location for New Employee Mr. Kang Drama

From the exterior of the building I showed you earlier
to the interior, it all made an appearance in the drama .
Honestly, a place with this size and ambiance could probably be found
even on the outskirts of Seoul...
So why they came all the way to Gyeongju is a mystery, lol!

Oh wow, I visited without knowing anything and only found out by chance...
but it was fascinating how it immediately gave off the vibe of Chairman Kang's mansion hallway.
Visiting in person, it was also curious to imagine how they filmed the drama, lol!

The space is quite nice, but if you want to enjoy it leisurely,
it might be best to steer clear of super crowded weekends...
The sense of space... it's truly wonderful... it has a certain vibe~
Dessert & Drink Menu, Ordered Items

I was initially drawn in by the incredible variety of desserts, all looking absolutely scrumptious, but ironically, once I was there, I didn't find anything that truly called out to me.
Even so, the desserts had such unique presentations that you won't easily find anywhere else,
featuring truly distinctive looks,
making it feel like a worthwhile stop, especially if you're a dessert enthusiast looking for something a little different!
Their signature creation is the Vanilla Bressant,
which is said to be generously filled with luscious cream.
But I actually decided to skip the signature for now and try something else, haha!

Given its unique blend of a cozy personal cafe feel and the spaciousness of a larger establishment,
the prices tend to be a bit on the higher side... !
Ordered Menu | Quantity | Price |
Nurungji (Crispy Rice) Cookie & Einspänner | 1 | ~$6 |
Grapefruit Sorbet Mango Ade | 1 | ~$6 |
Apple Lemon Danish | 1 | ~$5 |
TOTAL ~$18 |
Good news for payment options: you can easily pay with Toss Face Pay,
and you can even earn loyalty points here, which is always a nice bonus!
Our Order & Taste Test!

We managed to snag a seat on the first floor ~
Honestly, I initially thought seating was only available on the first floor, haha!
It was a window seat, which meant it got a little warm.

When gathered all together, they certainly make for a vibrant and pretty display ~

Nurungji (Crispy Rice) Cookie and Einspänner
This Einspänner comes topped with a Nurungji (crispy rice) cookie.
It's exactly as the name implies — both in look and taste.
It wasn't bad, but it didn't quite 'wow' me or leave a lasting impression.
It's a perfectly decent and straightforward drink.

Grapefruit Sorbet Mango Ade
I decided to order this one because it was a seasonal special and looked incredibly refreshing!
However, how you enjoy this drink is key.
If you just take a sip initially, it tastes a bit like watered-down mango, haha!
At that moment, I actually questioned if I'd made the right choice...
It gets significantly better if you let the grapefruit sorbet melt sufficiently and then mix it all together.
Overall, it's another perfectly decent option to enjoy.

Apple Lemon Danish
A delightful pastry that's both zesty and sweet!
Crispy on the outside, and wonderfully moist on the inside.
It really reminds me of a French pie, in the best way possible ~
Final Thoughts & Overall Impression

For those looking for a spacious cafe in Gyeongju,
with great weather ~ and a wonderful atmosphere ~ it's definitely worth a visit.
Since it was even a filming location for the drama <The New Employee, Chairman Kang>,
go check it out while you're in the area! Haha.
I felt the desserts and drinks were a bit lacking,,,
so I recommend trying other drinks and desserts.
If possible, go for their signature items... !
→ This is just my personal opinion, so please keep that in mind! Haha.
✔️ Now is a great time to see Pink Muhly grass!
Gyeongju has a beautiful Pink Muhly colony,
so it would be great to visit there as well ~

✔️ I recently visited Gyeongju's Hwanglidan-gil ~
If you're planning a trip, definitely check it out! Haha.
