Planning a trip to Gyeongju often involves a bit of a balancing act.
You want a place close to Gyeongju World, right?
And it absolutely has to be affordable.
But you definitely don't want it to feel like a run-of-the-mill motel.
Finding accommodations that tick all these boxes can feel nearly impossible.
My friend and I stumbled upon this gem in Gyeongju, and honestly, we picked it mostly for the price, not expecting much. But it totally blew us away!
It features a pool, private BBQ areas, and even individual balconies, all for around ~$41 a night.
Let me break down why this place is a must-stay.

Why I Chose This Spot
To be frank, my initial decision was purely based on its proximity to Gyeongju World and the price tag.
Gyeongju World and California Beach are practically on its doorstep, making it the perfect base to crash after a thrilling day at the amusement park.
But once I arrived, the facilities far exceeded my expectations for the price.
The garden is beautifully maintained, making you feel like you've stepped into a serene forest, with birdsong filling the air. It’s a world away from typical city hotels or motels.

My Room Experience

The individual villas are spaced out, offering excellent privacy. You won't have to worry about noisy neighbors!
I stayed on the second floor of one of these villas, and it came with its own private balcony.
But the absolute highlight was the bed. It was so spacious that my friend and I could sleep comfortably without feeling cramped. That's a huge plus, right?
Room Types & Spa Options
I opted for a standard private villa room without a spa, but each room type offers different concepts and amenities.
Type | Features |
Standard Private Villa (My Stay) | Private Balcony, Large Bed, Privacy Individual BBQ Area |
Jet Spa Room | In-room Jet Spa (~$7 per hour) |
Hinoki Room | Complimentary Hinoki Bathtub |
If a spa is a must-have for you, then the Jet Spa Room or Hinoki Room would be perfect. But if you're primarily interested in the pool and BBQ like I was, the standard room is more than sufficient.
Amenities: The Real Game Changer

The outdoor swimming pool is absolutely free! It operates during the summer season, from check-in until 8 PM.
For families with kids visiting in the summer, this pool is a huge hit. You won't even need to bother with a separate water park.

And then there's the private BBQ terrace for each room.
It costs ~$14 for two people or ~$21 for four, and they provide the charcoal and grill grate. You can enjoy your BBQ from 5 PM to 10 PM (with the fire lit until 8 PM).
They even have windproof facilities for the winter, so you can enjoy a BBQ regardless of the weather!
Location & Getting There
Located at the entrance of Bomun Complex, this pension is just about a 10-minute drive from popular spots like Hwanglidan-gil, Cheomseongdae Observatory, and Donggung Palace and Wolji Pond.
Gyeongju World, California Beach, and Bulguksa Temple are also conveniently close.
Driving yourself is definitely the easiest way to get around.
While public transportation is an option (they even offer pickup from Bukgundong Village entrance bus stop between 3 PM and 6 PM for check-in), keep in mind that restaurants nearby are limited and tend to close early.
It can be a bit tricky to find food late in the evening. However, there's a convenience store and a Korean fried chicken place that stay open late, which saved our late-night cravings! If you're planning a BBQ, I highly recommend stocking up on groceries before you arrive.

Final Verdict

★★★★☆ (4/5)
For around ~$41 a night, getting a swimming pool, BBQ facilities, and a private balcony is incredible value. Aside from the limited dining options nearby (which can be solved by pre-shopping for your BBQ), there are truly no major downsides.
Especially if you're visiting Gyeongju World with kids in the summer, this pension is absolutely the way to go.
