On my way home from grocery shopping at the nearby E-Mart, I spotted this brand-new restaurant.

But this wasn't just any ordinary jokbal place... they serve Fried Jokbal (Deep-Fried Pork Trotters)! ‼️

They say even a fried shoe would taste amazing, so you know deep-fried pork trotters are bound to be a culinary masterpiece. I just had to take my dad along to try it!

The restaurant is spacious with plenty of tables. They can easily arrange group seating, making it a perfect spot for company dinners or family gatherings.

They also have a self-serve side dish bar. When I went up to get some extra lettuce wraps, the owner stepped in and generously piled up a fresh batch for me. The service here is incredibly warm and welcoming!

Ordering is super easy and convenient using the tablet installed at each table.

I heard that their signature items are the Fried Jokbal and Spicy Fire Jokbal (Bul-jokbal).

Since I can't handle spicy food very well, we played it safe and ordered the Half-and-Half Medium Combo: Regular Jokbal + Fried Jokbal.

Right after ordering, a variety of side dishes were served. My dad was highly impressed by how clean and beautifully presented everything was.

Among the neatly arranged side dishes, the highlights were the three custom dipping sauces and the incredibly fresh, appetizing kimchi.

Our main dish finally arrived! The regular jokbal was glistening beautifully, while the fried jokbal was glowing with a perfect golden crust.

The regular jokbal was incredibly tender and juicy, with absolutely no gamey odor. It practically melted in our mouths!

Eating it the classic way—wrapped in a fresh lettuce leaf with garlic and sauce—was absolute perfection.

The fried jokbal had a wonderfully light batter that wasn't too thick. It was served hot, crispy on the outside, and incredibly tender on the inside.

Pro tip: Pairing the fried jokbal with their specialty dipping sauce is the ultimate flavor combination!

The fried shishito peppers (꽈리고추) served on the side were also fried to perfection! 💚

You know how annoying it is when meat gets stuck in your teeth after a meal? Gwangjokbal actually provides dental floss picks for their guests to ensure a comfortable post-dining experience.
