Geumjangdae Pavilion, a spectacular hidden night view spot in Gyeongju, is located just a short 5 to 10-minute drive from major downtown landmarks like Daereungwon Tomb Complex and Cheomseongdae Observatory.

Key Highlights of the Geumjangdae Night Walk
The Breathtaking Pavilion Reflection from Across the River
The true charm of Geumjangdae's night view is best appreciated from the opposite side of the river, near the Seocheon banks or the Gyeongju Arts Center.

The traditional pavilion and its rugged cliffside are illuminated in a warm golden-bronze glow—one of Gyeongju's official signature colors. This light reflects perfectly onto the calm waters of the Hyeongsan River, creating a stunning, mirror-like symmetry.
It is a serene spot to sit back, watch the golden lights shimmer on the water, and enjoy some quiet meditation.

To capture this iconic reflection photo, park your vehicle at the Gyeongju Arts Center and head toward the riverfront trail across the street.
Panoramic Views of Gyeongju City from the Top
If you head to the innermost part of the parking lot, you will find the trail leading up directly to the pavilion. Depending on the season, you might find beautiful lanterns lighting up the path.

Reaching the Summit

A light, easy hike of about 5 to 10 minutes from the parking lot will bring you straight to Geumjangdae Pavilion.

From the top, the illuminated Hyeongsan River, the glittering Gyeongju cityscape, and the brightly lit Gyeongju Bridge unfold before your eyes in a single panoramic view.

The open-air pavilion catches a wonderful cool breeze, making it an incredibly refreshing and quiet spot to sit back and take in the city lights.
The Fairytale Aesthetic: Geumjangdae Wetland Park & the Wooden Boat
Located right near the lower parking lot, the Wetland Park is a popular photo spot on social media.
If you visit during the late afternoon or sunset, you can take whimsical photos with the lush reeds, aquatic plants, and a rustic, abandoned wooden boat that serves as a perfect photo zone.
Practical Tips for a Perfect Night Visit
To make the most of your evening at Geumjangdae, timing is everything. The night illumination shuts off promptly at 10:00 PM (22:00). To avoid rushing, we highly recommend arriving between 8:00 PM and 9:00 PM to enjoy a relaxed walk.
