Returning to Gyeongpo after a long time, I noticed that the ambiance of the raw fish restaurants had
completely transformed from before.
Many establishments had completed their renovations,
and among them, I visited Geondori Hoetjip,
famous for its trendy pub vibe on the first floor
and refreshing ocean view on the second.
1. Parking Information |

During busy weekends or peak seasons, parking in front of the restaurant can be quite challenging.
In such cases, you can use the Gyeongpo Paid Parking Lot behind Hotel Lang,
which offers 1 hour of free parking with your meal.
However, considering that dining time is typically up to 2.5 hours,
and the cost of dinner,
only 1 hour of free parking feels a bit disappointing.
It's good to keep this in mind if you plan to visit by car.
2. Interior: Trendy Pub Style 1st Floor & Ocean View 2nd Floor |

Geondori Hoetjip, a raw fish restaurant in Gyeongpo, features:
1st floor: Trendy pub style
2nd floor: Clean style with an ocean view
Each space has a distinct concept,
so you can choose your seat to match your preference.

However, the popular 2nd-floor window seats are exclusively for parties of four,
and can only be used with a prior reservation,
so if you plan to visit, Naver or phone reservations are a must.

We made a reservation for a party of five, including a child, and visited.
Since we exceeded four people, we couldn't sit right next to the 2nd-floor window seats, but we were guided to a comfortable, spacious table with a high chair, offering a refreshing view of the sea.
3. Menu Lineup |

We sat down and browsed the menu on the tablets installed at each table.
In addition to à la carte raw fish like flounder, rockfish, and red sea bream,
Geondori Hoetjip proudly offers its main attraction: extensive course sets.
We ordered the Geondori Set (Large), which is one of their most popular signature dishes,
allowing you to lavishly enjoy both king crab and raw fish.
📍Important Note
Table usage time per table is...
It's 2 hours and 30 minutes from the initial order time.
4. Geondori Set (Snow Crab + Assorted Sashimi) - Large: Splendid Main Assorted Sashimi and Chef-Quality Appetizers |

After ordering our meal and waiting a short while,
an array of diverse appetizers, exceeding our expectations,
began to fill our table, one after another.
Instead of multi-use water pitchers,
I was pleased by the hygienic new bottled water.

Starting with a crisp, appetite-whetting cold salad,
warm udon, corn cheese, and grilled fish followed.

Just before the main sashimi course arrived,
a fresh assortment of seafood, brimming with the scent of the ocean, came out first,
refreshing our palates.

Next, the stars of today's Geondori Set appeared: the Assorted Sashimi and Snow Crab!
Alongside the generous and varied assorted sashimi,
the snow crab looked absolutely perfect, neatly prepared for us to easily pick out the meat.

With the arrival of the splendid main dishes, the table was completely full.

The neatly plated assorted sashimi.

The thick and tender assorted sashimi
was first savored with a touch of wasabi and soy sauce,
then enjoyed in various combinations, wrapped in aged kimchi or lettuce wraps.

The snow crab, perfectly prepared, was incredibly easy to eat.
The crab shell, brimming with savory innards,
and the plump, white snow crab meat
truly stimulated our appetites.

Even before we could finish the assorted sashimi and snow crab,
fried dishes began to arrive.
Freshly and deliciously fried vegetables and shrimp.
While these kinds of fried dishes are common
even at typical raw fish restaurants,

The crispy yet tender cream shrimp
and the sweet dakgangjeong (sweet and spicy fried chicken) came out, delivering a truly delightful surprise.
This is where my stomach truly started to fill up!
That cream shrimp was quite delicious😋

When you keep eating raw fish and king crab, there comes a point where you might start to feel a little rich,
but then a spicy seasoned dish came out to perfectly cleanse the palate,
adding a refreshing kick,
followed by a creamy, rich pasta
that soothed the spicy kick – it was a perfect course.

And of course, for the grand finale of a Korean meal,
the absolutely essential savory crab roe fried rice!
The rich, savory flavor of the entrails coated each grain of rice beautifully,
making it the perfect carbohydrate recharge.

On top of that, a cool and spicy maeuntang (spicy fish stew) was served,
a perfect finish!
Normally, I’d order a bowl of rice with maeuntang,
but that day I was too full,
so I just enjoyed the zesty, refreshing broth,
neatly settling my stomach to conclude the meal.
5. Subjective Satisfaction Review of Geondori Hoejip, Gangneung |
Geondori Hoejip in Gyeongpo, Gangneung, which I visited this time, offered a fantastic ocean view of the open beach, a hip atmosphere, and a diverse and excellent food selection from appetizers to main dishes.
While a humble local vibe is great, enjoying a course meal of raw fish and king crab with an ocean view is also a unique experience you can savor right here in Gangneung.
