Did you know that every weekend evening,

a pretty massive night market opens up

along Wolhwa Street near Jungang Market?

To be honest, touristy night markets can sometimes be overhyped,

so I didn't want to get my hopes up too much.

Some places are overpriced and don't really have

anything worth eating.

But the Gangneung Wolhwa Street Night Market

is incredibly reasonable, with all items priced under ~$6!

And since it's a beloved annual event,

the variety of food was way better than I expected.

Plus, there's a lovely flea market, making it

such a fun place to just stroll around and explore!

Where & When?

Finding the Gangneung Wolhwa Street Night Market is easy—

just head to the street right next to Homeplus Gangneung!

It stretches all the way from the entrance of Jungang Market

to the front of the newly relocated 'Gangneung Gil Potato' shop.

Please note that the schedule can change depending on the weather or local events.

In fact, some food trucks that were there on day one

sometimes mysteriously disappear(?) the next day!

So use this guide as a rough plan of what to eat,

but don't be too disappointed if a specific truck isn't there! 😆

You could easily get full just on snacks!

The biggest charm of any night market

is, without a doubt, the street food!

that travelers to Gangneung will absolutely love! 😋

It's actually quite dangerous because just walking around

but I was surprised by how many hearty, meal-worthy options there were!

With hearty dishes like steaks, burgers, and sandwiches,

a lot of people were actually having their full dinner here.

They even have global favorites like sushi, pad thai, and jambon beurres,

making it so much fun to browse through

all the options!

There are low floor-seating tables and standing tables set up nearby,

so quite a few people were comfortably dining right on the spot.

If you haven't decided on a dinner spot yet,

ordering a bunch of different dishes with your friends

and sharing them at the night market

is a fantastic option! 👍

They even have spicy pig's trotters and chicken feet—

perfect for pairing with a cold drink, goes without saying! 🫶🏻

Just as you'd hope, the Wolhwa Night Market has

a fantastic variety of sweet treats like ice cream, churros, waffles, and drinks.

I know many of you visit Gangneung Jungang Market

to pick up some tasty local snacks,

but finishing your market tour

with a sweet treat from these night market food trucks

is a route I absolutely recommend! ♥

With so much variety and such a great vibe,

Honestly, the best part has to be how incredibly

budget-friendly the prices are!

where you can sit back and enjoy

From the entrance of Gangneung Wolhwa Street Night Market

all the way to the front of Jungang Market,

there are quite a few parasol tables set up—

but competition for them is fierce!⚡

There are also standing tables available,

so if you just want a quick bite,

using the standing tables is a great option!

(We actually stood and ate too, haha!)

The Gangneung Wolhwa Street Night Market

isn't just about food trucks—

there is also a lively flea market

featuring tons of local sellers!

Can you see the massive crowds

checking out the flea market stalls? Wow! ㄷㄷ

You can grab some light snacks

at the flea market, too.

With cotton candy that kids love

and traditional Korean treats to try,

it's easy to see why this is a must-visit spot

on any Gangneung itinerary!

was also participating in the Wolhwa Street flea market!

They whip up a super cute caricature
