While on a long-term business trip to Gangneung,

we finally wrapped up a massive project!

To celebrate, we had what was almost our final (?) team dinner,

and I just had to share this amazing spot with you.

When people think of eating sashimi or snow crab in Gangneung,

Gyeongpo or Gangmun Beach are usually the first spots that come to mind.

But instead of a crowded, touristy spot,

we wanted a more relaxed and peaceful place to enjoy our meal.

That's how we ended up at Namhangjin Beach,

visiting The Crab in Gangneung!

I'll leave the restaurant details at the very end of this post.

01 Quieter than Gyeongpo or Gangmun,

The Relaxing Namhangjin Beach

When you search for great crab restaurants in Gangneung,

most of the results are located in highly crowded tourist hubs.

Since this was our team's celebratory dinner,

we really wanted a quiet space where we could talk,

laugh, and enjoy each other's company.

While The Crab in Gangneung has

regular open tables just like any other seafood spot,

they also offer lovely private rooms—

perfect for family gatherings or company dinners.

But the ultimate reason

I highly recommend this place for gatherings

is definitely this breathtaking ocean view!🌊

The private rooms are cozy and perfect for group chats,

and we were lucky enough to be guided

to the absolute best room in the house—

featuring huge picture windows on two sides!💙

02 Side Dishes (Banchan) at The Crab in Gangneung

After all that hard work, we had to order drinks first!

Whenever I dine out with my team leader,

I always end up trying amazing premium drinks I've never had before...❣️

After a short wait, the courses started coming out,

neatly served one by one starting with the appetizers.

We each got a piece of raw sweet shrimp sushi wrapped in green laver,

along with delicate crab meat rolls and grilled abalone,

which were perfect for lightly whetting our appetite.

The mulhoe (cold raw fish soup), assorted tempura, and steamed fish

were also incredibly diverse, clean, and delicious.

Dun dun... and now, the main event!‼‼

With the lobster head we're about to enjoy,

and sashimi and seafood presented so beautifully,

how could we *not* snap a photo????😍

Just to clarify, the lobster isn't a live one, folks! 😅

No cruelty here! 🙏

And the sashimi and seafood... honestly,

the difference in freshness between eating it in a coastal city and in Seoul

is just on a whole other level.

Now, I just can't enjoy them as much in Seoul! It's ruined me! 😭

03 The Grand Entrance of

Gangneung's King Crab and Lobster

And then, what we'd been anticipating the most:

Gangneung's incredible King Crab made its grand entrance❗❗❗

While I'd had snow crab before on previous trips to Gangneung,

this was actually my very first time trying

king crab and lobster here!

As it was our last chance, we decided to go all out and

ordered the King Crab Special Course,

making sure we savored every bit of both king crab and lobster, wouldn't you say?

>> And no, this wasn't on a company card! We were just *that* hyped! 🤯 <<

(Totally self-funded, team-funded treat!)

Feast your eyes on this steamed king crab! Seriously! 🤩

While snow crab is absolutely delicious, of course,

you know how it is –

the plump ones are always tastier than the slimmer varieties! Right? 😭

Every time I pulled out a piece of leg meat,

it was never empty inside;

the meat just kept coming, allowing me to eat my fill and then some! 😋

And just look at the king crab tomalley (innards)...

I'm a massive seafood lover, and honestly,

the more I scraped out and ate,

the richer... and nuttier the flavor got... 🤤

And the tomalley fried rice? Absolutely divine! 🤯 (Photo evidence!)

Now, the lobster, unlike the king crab,

was served grilled to perfection with a generous topping of cheese!

Even though they might seem similar at first glance,

the flavors of lobster and king crab are actually quite distinct, don't you think?

Lobster has a delightfully chewier bite, wouldn't you agree? ❤️

To be able to indulge in king crab and lobster like this –

it truly feels like the height of luxury! ✨

Plus, amazing company and some fantastic drinks were the perfect cherry on top! 🍶

Our final night in Gangneung, graced by a beautiful full moon.

We spent our last moments in Gangneung, enjoying delicious

king crab and lobster to our hearts' content with our teammates,

sharing stories and laughter.

And after all that, did we head back to our neighborhood and go eat *again*...? You bet we did! 😂

hahahaha, you know us! 😂
