When you visit Gangneung Central Market,

you'll find an endless array of delicious eats,

from Dakgangjeong (sweet and spicy fried chicken) to fresh sashimi, croquettes, and desserts.

I was looking for something beyond Dakgangjeong,

and what caught my eye was the Jjampong Squid Sundae.

While regular squid sundae can be found in several places in Gangneung Central Market,

Jjampong Squid Sundae sounded extra special from its name alone,

so I decided to give it a try.

Here's my honest, self-funded review of the Gangneung Jjampong Squid Sundae half-and-half takeout!

01 Gangneung Jjampong Squid Sundae

As you wander through Gangneung Central Market,

you'll spot countless tempting treats.

Venturing further inside, the Jjampong Squid Sundae immediately grabbed my attention.

They boast that it's the only place that makes it by hand,

not bringing in frozen products from Sokcho, and they even

grill whole squid tentacles with it!

And 'Jjampong' Squid Sundae...?!

When in Gangneung, you just have to try something Jjampong-flavored!

doesn't have an eat-in area; it's strictly for takeout.

Gangneung Jjampong Squid Sundae at Gangneung Central Market

has a simple menu with just three items.

Since it was my first time, I naturally opted for the

Half-and-Half Squid Sundae, which mixes Jjampong and regular... ♡

There's also the fun of alternating between spicy and mild flavors,

so if you can't order two portions,

I highly recommend the Half-and-Half Squid Sundae!

If you leave a Naver photo review,

there's a game where you try to hit exactly 1.3 seconds by pressing a button.

If you succeed, you get Coffee Bean Bread,

and even if you fail, you get a free drink!

03 Jjampong Squid Sundae Taste Review

I brought the Gangneung Jjampong Squid Sundae home

and warmed it up in the microwave for about 30 seconds before eating.

If you use an air fryer,

5-7 minutes at 320 degrees Fahrenheit (160°C) would be even more delicious, I bet! ㅠㅠㅠ

The Jjampong Sundae was described as having a spice level similar to Shin Ramyun,

but since I love spicy food,

I didn't find it overwhelmingly hot.

Still, it had that distinct Jjampong spiciness and a genuine smoky flavor. Wow!

Dipping it in the accompanying mayo sauce was the perfect trick to smoothly mellow out the heat.

The squid sundae filling was generous, and the whole squid provided that delightful chewy texture.
