Hey everyone! Are you still trying to figure out where to go for your summer vacation?
I'm here to introduce you to Deungmyeong Beach in Gangneung, a spot I loved so much last summer (2025) that I'm already planning to go back this summer (2026)!
Among the many beaches on Korea's East Coast, Deungmyeong Beach is still relatively unknown, making it the perfect place for a peaceful swim and truly relaxing getaway.

Deungmyeong Beach is conveniently located close to Jeongdongjin Station, making it easily accessible even for travelers relying on public transportation.
📌Operating Season: July 10th - August 23rd
📌Lifeguard Hours: 09:00 AM - 06:00 PM
📌Shower Facilities: Adults ~$2, Children ~$1

As you head towards Deungmyeong Beach, you'll encounter active train tracks where trains still pass by.
The view of the sparkling blue sea framed by the railway and a charming pine forest path is truly unique, offering an exotic yet rustic countryside vibe.
This is a truly hidden photo spot, so make sure to snap some pictures before you jump in the water!

Once you arrive at Deungmyeong Beach, you'll be greeted by a vibrant display of colorful umbrellas stretching along the shore.
Unlike some of the more generic beach umbrellas you might see, the ones at Deungmyeong Beach are beautifully bright and truly pop in photos!

When you rent a parasol with a table, they also provide chairs as a complete set.
This makes it super convenient to relax and take breaks between swims.

Even though the day I visited Deungmyeong Beach wasn't perfectly sunny,
the water was incredibly clear and pristine, making it ideal for swimming.

And can you see the fine sand in the pictures?!
As anyone who loves ocean swimming knows, the condition of the water and the sand is crucial for a great beach experience.
Deungmyeong Beach boasts smooth, fine sand without any annoying rocks or shell fragments, so you don't even need to bother with aqua shoes.
The sand is so soft and gentle that it's also a really safe beach for kids to play on.

Even in mid to late July, it wasn't overly crowded, allowing me to enjoy a peaceful swim to my heart's content!
(Seriously, where is everyone else swimming? This place is a dream!)
