As you walk through the alleyways, the bright blue sign with a long queue of people immediately catches your eye, making it easy to spot.

Open until 11 PM, it's a fantastic option for a late-night snack or dinner when you're craving some fresh Gangneung seafood.
A Diverse Menu for Every Palate

The front of the shop primarily handles takeout orders. Looking at the prices, you'll quickly realize that for a popular tourist destination, the value here is truly unbeatable.

They offer a wide variety of combinations, like Yellowtail & Flounder, Flounder & Starry Flounder, Flounder & Red Sea Bream, assorted sashimi, Starry Flounder & Salmon, and many more.

The assorted sashimi platters start from around ~$28, featuring a delightful mix of Flounder, Starry Flounder, Salmon, Red Sea Bream, Amberjack, and other seasonal catches, with different compositions based on the price point.
Cozy Dine-in Experience
While Blue Sign House is widely known as a premier spot for Gangneung sashimi takeout, they also operate a small, cozy dining area right next door, with about five tables.

We opted to dine in rather than get takeout, as we loved the idea of enjoying freshly prepared sashimi right on the spot. It's truly a different experience!

Given its popularity, we waited for about 30 minutes. We took turns exploring the vibrant market while waiting, so the time flew by!
Freshness Guaranteed: Prepared Upon Order
Due to the constant demand, the fish are quickly replenished, ensuring you always get the freshest live sashimi possible.

They prepare your order on the spot, and their signature dishes are definitely the assorted sashimi platter and the refreshingly sweet and sour Mulhoe (spicy cold raw fish soup).
Assorted Sashimi & Special Mulhoe

The assorted sashimi platter arrived generously portioned, featuring seasonal fresh fish like Flounder, Rockfish, and Salmon.

Each piece glistened with a beautiful sheen. The moment you take a bite, you're greeted with that unique chewy texture and the distinct flavors of various fresh fish – a true delight for the senses!

The sashimi slices were perfectly thick, offering a satisfying chew.

The Mulhoe came packed with crisp vegetables and generous portions of fresh raw fish. The cool, savory broth created a perfect harmony, making it incredibly addictive.

The icy broth, infused with the flavors of the fresh fish, made it an absolute essential, especially during the warm summer months.

Oh, and there was one more dish that is an absolute must-try here. Seriously, you HAVE to order this one.
It's...

... the Maeuntang (Spicy Fish Stew)!
With so many takeout orders, they generously use plenty of fish bones, which makes the broth incredibly rich and flavorful. It's truly a culinary masterpiece!

You'll understand once you try it!
Friendly, Efficient Service & Unbeatable Value
Even though the market was bustling with customers, the staff handled everything like seasoned pros, offering friendly and efficient service. Despite the long takeout lines, orders moved quickly, which was a huge plus.

Another great advantage is the fixed pricing for assorted sashimi, starting from ~$28. You don't have to worry about inflated tourist prices, which is a common concern in some travel spots. For a family of four, we enjoyed a satisfying meal without breaking the bank, leaving us thoroughly impressed.
Pro Tip for Visiting or Takeout
On weekends or during peak dinner hours, wait times can get long. We highly recommend stopping by Blue Sign House at Gangneung Jungang Market to grab a waiting number or place your order in advance before you explore the rest of the market.
It's also an excellent choice for picking up fresh Gangneung sashimi to enjoy at your accommodation, or for a delightful picnic at Anmok Beach or Gyeongpo Beach.
