Hello, fellow travelers! 👋 I'm your travel blogger, Jju.
If you're planning a trip to Ganghwa Island, Joyangbangjik is an absolute must-visit! This massive cafe is a stunning transformation of an old textile factory that was once in operation. It's renowned for its incredible blend of retro and vintage aesthetics, making it feel less like a cafe and more like a captivating museum.

As someone who appreciates a good dose of nostalgia, I was amazed to see so many relics from a bygone era on display. It was like stepping into a time capsule! I'm not usually one to linger at a cafe, but I easily spent about an hour wandering around, soaking in the atmosphere, and enjoying a refreshing drink.

Joyangbangjik is a place where the past and present beautifully coexist. It offers a wonderful journey down memory lane for older generations and an exciting, interactive museum-like experience for younger visitors. Let me tell you all about this unique Ganghwa gem!

🍯 Jju's Travel Tip🍯
Consider your drink purchase at Ganghwa Joyangbangjik as your admission ticket to a fascinating museum! I highly recommend setting aside ample time to explore at a leisurely pace and truly soak in all the sights.
Parking at Joyangbangjik Can Be a Bit Tricky🚗

As one of Ganghwa's most popular large-scale cafes, Joyangbangjik's dedicated parking lot can fill up quickly. Even when I visited on a weekday after lunch, it was completely full, so I ended up using a nearby public parking lot.
It's a paid lot, but since it's public, it was quite affordable. I spent about an hour there and only paid ~$1. If you're visiting on a weekend or during peak hours, I definitely recommend heading straight for the public parking lots nearby.
How Much Does a Visit to Ganghwa's Joyangbangjik Cafe Cost?💰

There's a mandatory one-drink-per-person policy, and the average price for a drink is around ~$6. You might think that's a little pricey, but honestly, I didn't feel that way at all.
Considering you're getting to explore a museum-like space for the price of a single drink, I actually thought it was a fantastic value!

And it's not just drinks! They also offer a fantastic variety of baked goods, which was a huge plus for me as a self-proclaimed bread lover.

We ordered a 🍇 Grapefruit Ade and a 🍑 Nectarine Iced Tea. Both drinks were incredibly refreshing, packed with fruit pulp for a delightful texture, and perfectly tart!
Is It a Cafe or a Museum?! ☕️🎨

After sipping on our cool drinks, we embarked on our exploration of Joyangbangjik. There are no restrictions here; you're free to wander around and discover every nook and cranny. I found it just as engaging as visiting a proper museum, thanks to the sheer volume of unique antique items!

My photos don't even begin to capture it all! There are so many treasures both indoors and outdoors. Before I knew it, an entire hour had flown by!
🌳 The Outdoor Courtyard is Simply Beautiful

The outdoor courtyard, in particular, was beautifully landscaped. It's a true feast for the senses, allowing you to immerse yourself in the season's charm. You can feel the lushness of greenery in one section 🌳 and the vibrancy of colorful blossoms in another 🌸.
My Most Memorable Spot?
Surprisingly, The Restrooms!🧻

Did you know that Joyangbangjik actually took home both first and second place in Korea's Beautiful Restroom Design Contest? I thought, "How beautiful can a restroom really be?" but I was utterly blown away by their sheer opulence!

Especially the women's restroom! It was so elegant, I felt like I'd stepped into a luxurious chamber fit for medieval nobility. Everything, from the baby changing station to the restroom doors and even the designated photo zones, exuded an air of grandeur. I was truly impressed!

Since the indoor women's restroom won second place and the outdoor one took first, I made sure to check out the outdoor facilities too. The ambiance was so grand, I almost felt too intimidated to actually use it! Seriously, if you visit Ganghwa Joyangbangjik, you absolutely *must* make a pit stop at the restrooms.
