🐔Cauldron-Roasted Chicken in Geomdan: Gamakkup is perfect for you if...
✔︎ You're searching for a top-notch chicken restaurant in Seo-gu, Incheon.
✔︎ You love enjoying both delicious chicken and tteokbokki in one meal.
✔︎ You're curious about the unique combination of chewy bunmoza with spicy mozzarella boneless chicken!
Geomdan is a neighboring district I frequent, so I have a few beloved eateries there. Today, I'm thrilled to introduce one of my favorites: Gamakkup Dangha Main Branch, a true Geomdan chicken gem.
The interior of Gamakkup Dangha Main Branch is quite spacious, with plenty of tables comfortably spaced out, ensuring a pleasant dining experience. What really caught my eye was the huge screen! I could just imagine how lively it would be to watch a soccer game here, enjoying some chicken and a cold beer. My dad, a huge sports fan, immediately said it would be perfect for game nights. He was a bit disappointed there wasn't a match on the day we visited, but he still absolutely loved the atmosphere!
Even without a game, the large screen adds a fantastic vibe. We debated sitting closer to it but, being a window-seat lover, I opted for a spot near the window instead.
Ordering was super convenient right from our table using a tablet. We went with the Spicy Boneless Mozzarella Chicken with 4 extra bunmoza sticks, Tteokbokki with added Ramyeon noodles, Snowflake Fries, and a refreshing Cola.
After placing our order, we were served some crunchy puff snacks and two dipping sauces for the chicken.
If you need more, there's a self-service bar where you can grab as much as you like!
Tteokbokki
+Added Ramyeon Noodles
First to arrive was the Tteokbokki! You might wonder, "Tteokbokki at a chicken place?" But let me tell you, the portion is generous, and it's genuinely delicious. The broth is truly a work of art! The flat rice cakes were also a nice change from the usual cylindrical ones, adding a fresh twist. Plus, you can add ramyeon noodles to your Tteokbokki here at Gamakkup Dangha Main Branch. Everyone knows how perfectly tteokbokki and ramyeon go together, right? It's an absolute must-add!
Snowflake Fries
As a huge French fry enthusiast, I was craving some serious fries today, and I believe in going all out when dining! These fries had a perfect thickness, with a lovely fluffy potato texture. They were generously coated in a "magic seasoning" – truly the secret ingredient – that made me devour them even before our main event, the Spicy Mozzarella Chicken, arrived! The portion was so big that I ended up struggling to finish the chicken later. If you love fries, you won't regret this choice!
They served ketchup alongside the fries. Initially, I thought, "With all this seasoning, do I really need ketchup?" But I tried it anyway, and surprisingly, it was a fantastic pairing! And for those of you who ordered the Tteokbokki, trust me on this (even if it sounds a bit unconventional): these Snowflake Fries taste incredible dipped in the tteokbokki broth. It was my mom's favorite combo!
Spicy Boneless Mozzarella Chicken
+Bunmoza
✨️The star of the show always makes a grand entrance last!✨️ I was instantly delighted by the generous blanket of cheese, almost completely hiding the chicken. And then, the bunmoza on top! This was my first time trying tteokbokki (or rather, chicken) with bunmoza, and I was intrigued – would it even taste good?
To my surprise, the bunmoza here was even thicker and chewier than what I've had in mala tang! I always thought mala tang was the ultimate place for bunmoza, but Gamakkup proved me wrong. The combination of the chewy bunmoza with Gamakkup's unique sweet and savory chicken sauce was divine. Seriously, if you order the Spicy Boneless Mozzarella Chicken here and *don't* add bunmoza, you're making a mistake! You absolutely have to add it!
While I've raved about the bunmoza, let's not forget the main attraction: the Mozzarella Spicy Boneless Chicken itself! Though the cheese initially covers the chicken, there's a generous portion underneath. What truly impressed me was that the cheese wasn't stiff or cold upon arrival! Sometimes, restaurants pile on the cheese, only for it to be hardened by the time it reaches your table. But at Gamakkup Dangha Main Branch, the cheese was perfectly melted and stretchy. It was a joy to wrap each piece of boneless chicken in that gooey cheese and savor every bite.
What I Loved About Gamakkup Dangha Main Branch
First off, the cola came in a large bottle, not just a small can, which was a nice touch.
Also, for anyone wearing a skirt or dress, you know how uncomfortable it can be sitting in certain chairs. Gamakkup Dangha Main Branch thoughtfully provides blankets, which was a very welcome detail!
Parking
📍 Dangha Public Parking Lot 15 Cheongmaro167beonan-gil, Geomdan-gu, Incheon
While the "eatery alley" where Gamakkup Dangha Main Branch is located doesn't have its own parking, thankfully, there's the Dangha Public Parking Lot just a 3-5 minute walk away, making parking convenient.
Please note that parking costs are ~$0 for the first 30 minutes, and then ~$0 for every 15 minutes thereafter.
✔︎ My Review of Gamakkup Dangha Main Branch, Incheon
Even on a weekday, the restaurant was bustling and quickly filled up. It made perfect sense why they had a Catchtable waiting system! In conclusion, this is truly a Geomdan chicken spot in Seo-gu, Incheon, worth traveling to even from a neighboring town.
