Hello, fellow travelers! 👋
Planning an unforgettable journey through Eastern Europe in early September 2026? Pre-booking your transportation is a smart move, especially in Europe, where early bird catches the best (and cheapest!) routes.
When traveling from the enchanting city of Prague to the musical heart of Salzburg, you generally have two main options:
1. Traveling by FlixBus
(Direct route, no transfers needed!)
2. Traveling by Train
(Often requires transfers 😥)
Given the convenience of a direct journey, FlixBus is often the preferred choice for many. If you're new to booking with FlixBus, don't worry! We'll walk you through everything, from setting up the app to securing your tickets.
What is FlixBus?
FlixBus is a prominent low-cost intercity bus platform that connects cities across Europe, North America, and beyond, offering an affordable and eco-friendly way to travel.
App Setup Guide

When you first open the app, it might default to a local language, which can be a bit confusing. To get started, tap on the 'More' icon located in the bottom right corner, then navigate to 'Settings' (usually the first option). Here, you can easily change the currency to USD and select English as your preferred language. And just like that, your initial setup is complete!
Choosing Your Journey and Date

Next, you'll search for your desired route – in our case, from Prague to Salzburg. The app will display various departure times, along with their respective prices and estimated travel durations. Pay close attention to the travel times, as even with the same origin and destination, some routes might take longer due to different stops. Once you've found the best option for your schedule and budget, click the arrow to proceed, then select the green circle to confirm your choice.
Entering Passenger Details and Payment

4. Contact Information
Enter your email address and phone number to receive your booking confirmation and any important updates.

Essential Bus Travel Tips
1. Luggage Smarts
To prevent any mix-ups or loss, attach a name tag to your luggage and snap a quick photo before it goes into the storage compartment. Always keep your valuables with you in your carry-on.
Keep an eye on your checked bags during any intermediate stops to ensure no one accidentally takes yours.
2. Onboard Comfort
For longer journeys, pack some odorless snacks to curb hunger. Think granola bars, fruit, or crackers – anything that won't bother your fellow passengers.
Bus temperatures can vary, so bring a jacket or a light blanket to stay comfortable, regardless of whether the AC is blasting or the heat is on.
3. Travel Planning
Europe is known for occasional travel delays, so always build some buffer time into your itinerary. A relaxed schedule will save you a lot of stress if your bus is running a bit behind!
