An adorable elephant cafe
where you can see these majestic creatures right in front of your eyes!
It's the most famous elephant cafe in Chiang Mai.
Many travelers visit either by taking a taxi on their own
or by booking a convenient day tour.
We decided to book a tour mainly because
we wanted plenty of photos of the two of us together.
(When you travel as a duo, you rarely get good photos of both of you in the frame...)
Plus, we really wanted to avoid the hassle and
stress of dealing with taxis along the way!
For our itinerary, we chose a jam-packed route
that covers Chiang Mai's best suburban gems:
Mon Jam, Elefin Farm, and Cypress Lanes!
The verdict? We absolutely loved it!!

They were an English-speaking guide,
and communication was 100% seamless and comfortable ♥️
It’s a near full-day tour from 9 AM to 5 PM,
and having such a fantastic guide made our entire day a massive success!!
Day Tour Comparison & Discount Coupons
First off, my number one criteria
for choosing a day tour was the itinerary.
I absolutely had to visit Elefin Farm,
and getting to see Cypress Lanes as well was the ultimate bonus!
Usually, other suburban tours
bundle these with either Baan Kang Wat
or Mon Jam.

Since Baan Kang Wat is relatively close to Chiang Mai city,
we decided to book the tour that stops at Mon Jam,
which is further out and much harder to visit on your own.
They say going to Mon Jam by taxi means navigating steep mountain roads,
and it's notoriously hard to catch a ride back...;;

I was actually torn between two Thai travel agencies:
"Odidunji" (Everywhere) and Monkey Travel.
If you look closely at what's included, Monkey Travel seems slightly better.
But there was about a ~$6 difference in the tour price,
so it pretty much evens out in the end... haha.
(Even without applying any discounts, Odidunji is cheaper...)

Chiang Mai Day Tour Review
Mon Jam, Elefin Farm, Cypress Lanes
The day before the tour, they sent me the
hotel pickup time via KakaoTalk.
Since our hotel was a bit far
from Old Town,
they came early to pick us up at 9:00 AM!
Getting into a comfortable car right from the hotel lobby
made the start of the trip so smooth and easy...
Our first stop was the famous nearby mountain destination, Mon Jam!
The drive up is quite winding with lots of mountain roads,
so if you get motion sickness, make sure to take some medicine beforehand!
Arriving at Mon Jam in the morning, a blanket of white clouds lay below us,
giving the whole place a truly dreamy, mystical vibe.
The natural scenery was so vast and absolutely stunning!

Isn't it absolutely gorgeous? ...
I also took some photos on this famous swing photo spot.
The swing was actually lowkey terrifying... haha.
The main photo zone in Mon Jam is the giant wooden palm,
and I loved how our guide made sure we didn't miss
a single one of these amazing photo spots.
The tour I took was led by an English-speaking guide,
They understood my basic English perfectly! haha
No need to shell out extra cash
for a specialized language guide...!
Next up on the itinerary: Elefin Farm!
This was the elephant experience I was looking forward to the most,
so I was a bit bummed that it started raining right then...
We had lunch at the Elefin Farm Cafe.
Just a heads up, food expenses are on you!~
We ordered a bowl of noodles, an omelet rice,
and a juice, but it was a bit on the pricier side.
My advice? Just grab a light bite to hold you over...
and save your appetite for the delicious food back in the city!
Right as we finished eating, the rain stopped,
and I was in the absolute best mood ever! ♥️
After eating, it's time for the highlight:
the elephant feeding experience!
Elephant food is
100 Baht (~$3) per basket!
There are about five elephants here,
and they are so incredibly cute and super gentle!
Mid-feed and loving every second!
Pro tip for the best photos:
get as close to the elephants as you can!
Once you're done feeding them, you can take photos
right next to the baby elephants like this!
After feeding, head down to the lower area
to snap some amazing photos with the elephants!
The elephant actually wraps its trunk around you in a hug.
It's so cute, gentle... and surprisingly warm! haha
Drop a small tip in the tip jar,
and you can take these precious photos with you!
Our final stop was the Cypress Lanes Cafe!
The entry fee for this gorgeous photo zone is 50 Baht (~$1)!
Since it had just rained, the air was actually quite cool
and the lighting made our photos look incredible!
Doesn't this totally look like a professional wedding photoshoot...?
If you head over to the cafe right next to Cypress Lanes,
you can get a 100 Baht (~$3) discount on your coffee
by showing your entry ticket!
I ended up getting the Chiang Mai Dirty Coffee!
I didn't expect it to be a specialty dirty coffee spot,
but wow, the coffee was actually incredibly good...!
Plus, with the 100 Baht discount,
you absolutely have to try the coffee here... haha
After wrapping up the tour,
they dropped us right back at our accommodation.
Honestly, having the transportation taken care of was so comfortable...
My Review of the Chiang Mai Mon Jam Day Tour
First of all, my overall rating is a 10/10! Absolutely loved it!!
If we had tried to hail taxis to cover this entire route,
it would have been such a hassle and a waste of time.
Doing it all in one go through a structured tour made it so easy and stress-free.
Plus, they sent over so many high-quality DSLR photos
that I've been spending my days scrolling through them with a huge grin... haha
Whether you're traveling as a couple, with family, or solo,
this is such an amazing tour to book...

At Elefin Farm, you need to pay 100 THB for an elephant food basket, plus your own meal expenses. At Cypress Lanes, you have to pay a separate entrance fee of 50 THB for the photo zone.
The "Anywhere Tour" runs from 9:00 AM to 5:00 PM and offers direct pick-up from your hotel. In contrast, "Monkey Travel" operates from 10:00 AM to 4:30 PM, and you must go directly to either the McDonald's next to the Night Bazaar or the U Nimman Chiang Mai Hotel.
The road to Mon Jam is very winding and mountainous, which can cause motion sickness, so it is recommended to bring medication in advance. Additionally, you need to prepare a 40 THB entrance fee per person to enter the Mon Jam photo spot.
You can experience feeding the elephants by purchasing a food basket for 100 THB. After the experience, if you put a small tip in the tip box, you can take a picture where the elephant hugs you with its trunk.
After paying the 50 THB entrance fee for the Cypress Lanes photo zone, you can receive a benefit by visiting the cafe next door. You will get a 100 THB discount when buying coffee at that cafe.
