While planning a trip to Shymkent, Kazakhstan, you'll inevitably come across one hotel that stands out from the rest:
The DoubleTree by Hilton Shymkent.
Many travelers might not be familiar with Shymkent, but it's actually Kazakhstan's third-largest city and a major hub alongside Almaty and Astana.
We booked our flights with SCAT Airlines, flying into and out of Shymkent, which naturally led us to stay here.
I'm excited to share my personal review of the hotel, complete with a price comparison across different booking platforms, to help you plan your perfect 2026 trip!

The DoubleTree is centrally located in Shymkent, making it the overwhelmingly popular choice for international travelers visiting the city.
In truth, when searching for accommodations in Shymkent, there are very few globally recognized hotel chains. This makes the DoubleTree by Hilton the de facto go-to for foreign visitors.
Furthermore, its location in Shymkent's central business district means major tourist attractions, popular restaurants, and shopping malls are all within easy walking distance.
✔ Shymkent Central Park: Approx. 0.5 miles, a 10-minute walk
✔ Aurora Mall: Within a 5-minute drive
✔ Shymkent International Airport: Approximately a 15-20 minute drive
The hotel's excellent location made planning our itinerary a breeze, as we could cover most key city points on foot without needing a rental car or constant taxis.
Shymkent's famous Tulip Monument is also nearby. On a beautiful day, we loved grabbing a coffee from the nearby Starbucks and taking a leisurely stroll through Central Park.
If you're flying with SCAT Airlines, like we did, and arriving at Shymkent Airport, the hotel is just about a 20-minute drive, making the DoubleTree an ideal choice.

As a Hilton property, the hotel was impeccably clean and well-maintained. We experienced no discomforts throughout our stay.
The check-in counter operates 24 hours, which was convenient, and we were able to comfortably wait for our taxi to the airport in the hotel lobby.
03. DoubleTree by Hilton Shymkent: Room Information
The rooms are categorized into:
Standard Room / Superior Room / Suite
As there were two of us, the basic Standard Room provided ample space and comfort for our stay.
The elevators were surprisingly efficient, meaning we never had to wait long.
We booked a room with twin beds, and the bedding was incredibly plush. The window offered a pleasant view, preventing any feeling of being cooped up.
The bathroom was exactly as pictured on the website – clean, spacious, and very refreshing.
04. Breakfast Experience
Breakfast is served buffet-style in the restaurant on the first floor.
The spread includes a mix of Central Asian local dishes and Western options, ensuring that even those new to Kazakh cuisine can find something they enjoy.
From basic cereals, fresh fruits, salads, and coffee to freshly made omelets and pancakes, the selection was diverse, clean, and satisfying.

Weekends: 7:00 AM - 11:00 AM
Breakfast hours differ on weekdays and weekends. We appreciated the slightly later closing time on weekends, allowing for a more relaxed morning meal.
