Traveling to Almaty, Kazakhstan
While preparing for my trip to Kazakhstan,
I looked up reviews for almost every single hotel in Almaty.
Since I was traveling with my parents in their 70s and a 10-year-old child,
the location of our accommodation was absolutely crucial.
Traveling with elderly parents and a young kid, managing everyone's stamina was an absolute must!!
Even while sightseeing, if my parents or my child
got tired, we needed to be able to head straight back to the hotel to rest,
so finding a "prime location" was non-negotiable.

We stayed at the Renion Park Hotel for our first three days after arriving in Almaty.
To give you the bottom line right away:
"This is a hotel I would absolutely stay at again in a heartbeat."

It's located incredibly close to Almaty's absolute must-see spots:
- Just a 3 to 5-minute walk to Panfilov Park and Zenkov Cathedral
- Within about 10 minutes to Arbat Street
Making the location and walking distance seriously, seriously perfect!

Superior Double Room with breakfast included on Booking.com in the the ~$64 range,
and it was an absolute steal!
I highly, highly recommend booking with breakfast included!!
Renion City Hotel
After staying at Renion Park for three days,
we rented a car and headed out to explore the outskirts of Almaty.
We really wanted to stay at the same hotel when we came back,
but unfortunately, Renion Park was fully booked... :(
So, the place we chose instead was the Renion City Hotel.

Both Renion Park and Renion City
are located near Panfilov Park,
and they are only about a 10-minute walk from each other.

At the Renion City Hotel,
we stayed in a Superior Twin Room, and it was seriously SO spacious!

Since our experience at Renion Park was so amazing,
it was only natural that we started comparing the two
right after checking in. But as we settled in, we realized
they both have completely different charms.

Renion City is a newer hotel compared to Renion Park.
As you'd expect from a newer building, it was super clean,
and the overall room condition was excellent.
If Renion Park feels classic and cozy,
Renion City feels a bit more modern and trendy!

1. Location
Location comparison between Renion Park and Renion City
To put it simply,
Renion Park
is in a prime spot for taking walks through Panfilov Park and exploring Arbat.
On the other hand, Renion City
is perfectly located for hitting up delicious shashlik spots and exploring the Green Bazaar.
However, since the two hotels are only about a 10-minute walk apart,
you can easily explore all the main spots on foot from either location!

Because I didn't stay in the exact same room tier at both properties,
it's a bit hard to make a direct head-to-head comparison.
But looking at equivalent room tiers online,
the rooms at Renion Park do tend to be slightly wider.
That said, the rooms I stayed in were both around the ~$64 range,
and honestly, they were incredibly spacious—bigger than almost any other hotel rooms I’ve stayed in around the world!
3. Breakfast

Out of our group of 5, 3 voted for Renion Park,
while 2 cast their vote for Renion City!
Truth is, both breakfasts were delicious,
so it really comes down to what kind of food you prefer.
Renion Park had
a great variety of hearty hot foods and savory meat dishes,
whereas Renion City boasted
a wonderful spread of fresh salads and desserts.
At Renion Park,
the menu changed almost completely every day, so we never got tired of it
during our three-day stay.
4. Facilities

Plus, if you reserve a slot in advance,
both hotels offer complimentary access to their swimming pool and sauna.
I didn't have enough time to try them out at Renion Park,
but I did use them at Renion City and had an incredibly relaxing time.
