Hello, I'm Mango, your travel blogger 🍷
If you're exploring New Zealand's South Island, near Queenstown,
and looking for a winery,
how about Cloudy Bay?
Cloudy Bay Shed
Cloudy Bay Winery

In New Zealand's South Island, there are two places where you can experience the Cloudy Bay
winery tour.
① Marlborough Region: Cloudy Bay Vineyards
② Central Otago Region: Cloudy Bay Shed
📍 Cloudy Bay Vineyards
230 Jacksons Road, Rapaura, Blenheim 7273 New Zealand
📍 The Cloudy Bay Shed

I've actually visited both locations!

📍 The Cloudy Bay Shed
45 Northburn Station Road, Northburn 9383 New Zealand
Located in the Otago region,
Cloudy Bay Winery is nestled near
one of New Zealand's South Island's most iconic cities,
Queenstown.
It's about an hour's drive by car.
If you're exploring the South Island by rental car,
it's definitely worth a stop!

※ Opening Hours Wednesday to Sunday 11 AM ~ 5 PM |
I visited without a prior reservation
during their opening hours.
A staff member guided me to a seat
inside the tasting room.
I arrived after lunchtime,
and since food orders were no longer being taken,
I only did a wine tasting.

Cloudy Bay Winery offers a variety of
outdoor seating options.
Imagine savoring wine while overlooking
the beautiful natural scenery – truly meaningful!
The weather was perfect, so many people were enjoying
wine and food outdoors.

The interior design is also incredibly stylish and beautiful, isn't it?
With the sounds of birds chirping and glorious weather,
it was pure bliss!♥️

Wine Tasting Menu

Here's a look at Cloudy Bay Winery's tasting menu.
You can choose from three different courses.
✔️ The Tasting Menu is as follows:
CLOUDY BAY INDULGE – $30
CLOUDY BAY EXPERIENCE– $25
PINOT NOIR IMMERSION – $25
Receive a complimentary tasting

Cloudy Bay Pinot Noir Tasting
Price: $25

Having previously enjoyed the INDULGE menu at
Cloudy Bay Winery in the Marlborough region,
this time, I decided to dive into the Pinot Noir Immersion,
tasting three exquisite glasses of Pinot Noir.

My husband only gets to smell the aroma~
I'll happily drink it all myself! 🍷

When touring wineries in New Zealand's Marlborough region,
I initially thought I'd only be sipping on Sauvignon Blanc white wines,
but then it was delightful to also drink Central Otago Pinot Noir red wine :)
It was a wonderful change of pace, so good!
The wine aroma was truly wonderful,
and the taste lingered until the very end.
Cloudy Bay wines always have such complex flavors,
making it hard to pinpoint immediately, 'This is exactly what it tastes like!' or 'This is exactly what it smells like!'
It's more like a flavor that keeps you thinking about it... a taste that keeps calling you back.

Otago specializes in exceptional Pinot Noir,
celebrated for its delicate nuances and complex layers,
a direct result of its cool, high-altitude climate.
Meanwhile, Marlborough is world-famous for its crisp and vibrant Sauvignon Blanc,
boasting global recognition.
Light and crisp white → Marlborough
Delicate and deep red → Otago

It was truly a meaningful and wonderful experience to visit both Cloudy Bay Wineries
in New Zealand and savor both their superb Sauvignon Blanc and Pinot Noir wines :)

Founders Cellar Pinot Noir 2020
(Central Otago)
Cloudy Bay wines are imported quite a bit into Korea,
and are widely available.
However, this particular bottle isn't easily found, so
I decided to get the Founders Cellar Pinot Noir.
The price was $90, roughly ~$48 in Korean Won!
Recommended Wineries Near Queenstown, New Zealand

I recently visited Cloudy Bay, a winery
near Queenstown, New Zealand.
We rented a car, so getting there was a breeze,
but for those exploring without a car, relying on
public transport like buses or trains might make it a bit tricky to get to.

For New Zealand travelers exploring without a car,
let me also introduce a winery tour
departing from Queenstown!

This tour takes you on a shuttle bus from Queenstown,
allowing you to freely visit major wineries in the Gibbston region,
and enjoy wine tastings and authentic local experiences.
I really wanted to visit Gibbston Valley Winery,
but unfortunately, we couldn't make it because we were traveling by rental car 🥲
The biggest and most appealing advantage is that you can explore multiple wineries
by dedicated vehicle or shuttle bus!
If you're looking for a winery tour departing from Queenstown,
I highly recommend this one!
