Good news! Chiang Mai International Airport is super close to Old Town, so a taxi ride usually takes only about 10 to 15 minutes. When I arrived, I compared fares between Bolt and Grab and ended up choosing Bolt because it was a bit more affordable.

Chiang Mai International Airport boasts excellent accessibility, being conveniently located near major tourist spots like Old Town and Nimmanhaemin.

After collecting your luggage and exiting to the arrival hall, you'll find fixed-fare taxis near Gate 1. During my visit, the fare to Old Town was advertised starting from 150 THB.
These are super convenient if you don't want to download an app or are new to ride-hailing services. Just be sure to confirm the exact fare before you get in, as prices can vary depending on your destination and the time of day.
Grab

You can enter your destination to see an estimated fare, driver and vehicle information, and pay with cash or a registered card. Just keep in mind that fares can fluctuate based on demand and time of day.
Bolt
Bolt is another ride-hailing app similar to Grab. When I checked at the airport, Bolt was roughly 10 THB cheaper than Grab.
However, fares for both apps can change in real-time, so it's always a good idea to compare them before you book.

How to Catch a Bolt from Chiang Mai Airport
After clearing immigration and picking up your bags, you'll exit into the arrival hall where you'll find several gates. Fixed-fare taxis use designated counters, while for Bolt and Grab, you simply enter your pick-up and drop-off points in the app and choose a gate to meet your driver.
I called a Bolt and met my driver at Gate 3 at Chiang Mai Airport.
The app displays your driver's name, license plate number, vehicle color, and car model, so you can easily identify your ride. Always double-check that the license plate number on the app matches the actual vehicle before getting in.
