Cheongju Unnidan-gil Guide 2026: Hidden Shops and Cafes to Explore
Stroll through Cheongju's quaint Unnidan-gil and uncover delightful indie shops and cozy cafes. From vintage stationery to lush plant stores and a travel-themed cafe, find your next favorite spot for a relaxing day out.

After immersing ourselves in history at the Cheongju Early Printing Museum, we weren't quite ready to head home. The afternoon still held a promise of discovery, so we decided to wander through the nearby alleys.
We didn't have a specific destination in mind, but as we ambled along, charming little shops began to pop up, nestled discreetly among the residential buildings.

It turns out we had serendipitously stumbled into Cheongju's Unnidan-gil. What immediately struck us about Unnidan-gil was its peaceful ambiance. Unlike bustling commercial districts, this area felt more like a quiet, residential alleyway, brimming with understated charm.

At first, we wondered, "Is this really a shopping street?" But as we continued our stroll, we found hidden stationery shops, unique plant boutiques, and cozy cafes, making each discovery a delightful surprise. This time, my husband and I explored three fantastic spots:
11 Point, Beertomato, and On the Road.
First Stop in Cheongju Unnidan-gil:
11 Point Stationery Shop

Our first stop was 11 Point, a charming stationery store. It was filled with a delightful array of items, from small, practical stationery like masking tape, clips, and erasers, to eye-catching designer products.

The displays were thoughtfully arranged, making it a joy to browse through everything.

What particularly caught my eye was a calendar with a charming, slightly vintage feel. It wasn't too big, and its analog aesthetic was captivating, so I spent a good while admiring it.

The store had a wonderfully quiet atmosphere, perfect for browsing at your own pace. It's an ideal spot for anyone who enjoys slowly discovering unique stationery and small decorative items. If you're a fan of stationery, journaling supplies, or small designer goods, 11 Point is a fantastic place to stop by in Cheongju's Unnidan-gil.
Second Stop in Cheongju Unnidan-gil:
Beertomato, the Plant & Lifestyle Shop

After leaving 11 Point, we walked a bit further and discovered Beertomato. This wasn't your typical flower shop; it felt more like a curated lifestyle boutique, showcasing a beautiful blend of plants and unique decorative items.

Beyond the gorgeous plants, we also got to browse Beertomato's exclusive merchandise. The entire store was so adorably decorated that it felt like every corner was a photo zone, perfect for snapping some Instagram-worthy pictures!

As it happened, I had been wanting to bring some greenery into our home, so I naturally lingered here for a while. While there were many beautiful large plants, as a plant novice, I asked the owner for recommendations on easy-to-care-for varieties.

The owner recommended starting with a small plant to learn the ropes, rather than a large one right away. Among their suggestions, we chose a charming Hong Kong Schefflera.

Its small, adorable appearance won me over, and we ended up taking it home. We even named it Kkungya! When we purchased it, we received a helpful card with watering and care instructions, which was incredibly useful for a beginner like me.

Even now, in late 2026, Kkungya is thriving in our living room. It's grown quite a bit since we first brought it home, and new shoots are constantly appearing!
Third Stop in Cheongju Unnidan-gil:
On the Road Cafe, A Journey-Themed Escape

Our final destination was On the Road Cafe. The moment I saw the name, I knew we couldn't just walk past it! My blog nickname is "Jitaeng on the Road," so discovering a cafe named "On the Road" by chance while exploring Cheongju's Unnidan-gil? It felt like fate, and there was no way we weren't going in!

The cafe, both inside and out, was decorated with a wonderful travel theme.

Bicycles, travel books, suitcases, airplane models, flags from various countries, and photographs were thoughtfully placed everywhere. Add to that the slightly unfamiliar, atmospheric music playing in the background, and it truly felt like we had been transported to a faraway travel destination for a brief escape.

Lingering here made me want to pack my bags and embark on an adventure immediately. The entire space perfectly encapsulated the spirit of travel.

That day, we decided to try something a little different from our usual orders. We opted for an Iced Lemon Black Tea and a Watermelon Juice.

The watermelon juice was wonderfully cool and sweet, perfect for a warm day. The Iced Lemon Black Tea offered a clean, refreshing taste, with the subtle astringency of black tea perfectly balanced by the zesty tang of lemon.
