Are you flying through Cheongju Airport and looking for a place to grab a bite before your flight?
Recently, as I prepared for a move to Sejong City, I found myself frequently traveling between Jeju Island and Cheongju. This meant figuring out where to eat at Cheongju Airport became a recurring question for me.
Cheongju Airport is a compact hub, efficiently connecting both domestic and international flights, so navigating through it is quite straightforward.
On the first floor, between Gates 1 and 2, you'll immediately spot cafes like Mr. Hotteok and Coffeenie.
If you venture a bit further into the corner past Gate 1, you'll find Korean restaurants such as Baeknyeon Gagye, Yukgeori Somunnan Mandu, and Naduri.
Beyond the Coffeenie cafe, a CU convenience store is also conveniently located.
Heading up to the second floor, your options expand considerably. You'll find a food court like Playbo6, along with popular spots like No Brand Burger and cafes such as Gontran Cherrier, Beurre Beurre, and Twizzle, making it easy to pick something that suits your taste.
Playbo6 offers a wide array of delicious options, including traditional Korean dishes like Miyeokguk Bansang (seaweed soup set), Yukgaejang (spicy beef soup), and Sundubu Jjigae (soft tofu stew), alongside popular choices like Donkatsu (pork cutlet) and Eomuk Udon (fish cake udon).
Before my flight back to Jeju, I decided to stop by Mr. Hotteok on the first floor. Initially, I planned for a full meal, but not being too hungry, I opted for a simple snack instead.
A single 'Ssiat Hotteok' (sweet pancake with seeds) was approximately ~$2. Considering airport prices, this felt reasonable, and the hotteok itself was quite tasty. Honestly, I was tempted to try some churros and hotdogs too, but I figured if I ate all that, it would be a full meal anyway! So, I resisted! Haha.
Beyond the Ssiat Hotteok, they offer a variety of snacks like Eomuk (fish cakes), churros, and hotdogs, making it an excellent spot for a quick bite rather than a sit-down meal.
The most crucial detail to keep in mind when planning to visit Cheongju Airport restaurants is their operating hours.
Most establishments typically open around 6:00 AM and begin closing down between 8:00 PM and 9:00 PM. It's particularly important to note that 'Hanwadame,' the Korean restaurant in the international duty-free area, reportedly closes as early as 6:00 PM. So, if you're catching an evening international flight from Cheongju Airport, it's wise to double-check their hours in advance.
If you find yourself needing to stay at the airport late into the night, Twosome Place, located within the duty-free areas, is a good option.
The domestic duty-free Twosome Place operates until 8:30 PM, while the international duty-free Twosome Place is open until 11:30 PM.
This was my first time visiting Cheongju Airport, and I was pleasantly surprised by the variety of dining options available, making it easy to find something to suit any preference.
I anticipate I'll be passing through Cheongju Airport a few more times in the future, and when I do, I'll be sure to explore and review other dining spots!
At Mr. Hotteok on the 1st floor of Cheongju Airport, you can enjoy various snacks such as fish cakes (eomuk), churros, and hot dogs, in addition to Ssiat Hotteok. Ssiat Hotteok is available for approximately ~$2 each.
Most restaurants open at 6 AM and close between 8 PM and 9 PM. Please note that Hanwadame, a Korean restaurant in the international departure duty-free area, closes at 6 PM. For late-night options, you can use Twosome Place in the domestic departure duty-free area (until 8:30 PM) and Twosome Place in the international departure duty-free area (until 11:30 PM).
