They say a bright, sunny day will come again~
Who doesn't know that classic tune? Haha!
I recently visited Hoetteulnal, a raw fish restaurant in Changwon's Seongsan-gu, whose name instantly makes that catchy song lyric play in your head!
Hoetteulnal: Essential Info for Your Visit
Address: Semi-Basement, 2 Danjeong-ro 44beon-gil, Seongsan-gu, Changwon-si, Gyeongnam
Operating Hours: 12:30 PM - 10:20 PM
Phone: 055-275-4955

You'll find it right opposite Daedong Apartments in Sangnam-dong.
It's the very first raw fish restaurant you'll spot when you turn into the residential street from the Sangnam-dong roundabout!
There isn't a dedicated parking lot, so we found a spot in a residential alley nearby.

Right outside the restaurant, there's an aquarium brimming with various lively fish,
and seeing them all zipping around got me incredibly excited even before we stepped inside! Haha!
Inside Hoetteulnal

Hoetteulnal is designed with entirely private rooms,
creating a perfect atmosphere for family dinners, group gatherings, or even business meals.
There were so many individual rooms, but as other diners were enjoying their meals,
I've kept the interior photos to a minimum!
The Menu

Hoetteulnal is renowned in Changwon's Seongsan-gu for its incredible seasonal assorted raw fish platters.
We ordered the Hoetteulnal Seasonal Assortment for two, and you wouldn't believe the lavish spread that arrived!
We left feeling incredibly satisfied and full.
Usually, a visit to a raw fish restaurant isn't complete without a spicy fish stew (maeuntang) to finish,
but that day we were simply too full to even consider it ㅠ

They were also running a Naver receipt review event,
offering a pretty diverse range of services as a bonus.
The Grand Spread of Side Dishes

Just moments later, they presented us with a truly extravagant array of complimentary side dishes.
Our eyes went wide with surprise – the table was completely overflowing even before the main raw fish had even arrived!
Just how many different dishes were there??
I even tried to capture it horizontally, but there was just too much to fit in one frame,
so here's a vertical group shot of all those incredible starter dishes!
Oh my goodness, talk about a feast!
Shrimp season is just around the corner, and yet they're already serving fresh raw shrimp! What a treat!

My husband isn't a fan of raw shrimp, so I happily devoured both pieces myself!
And get this – even after I had removed its head, it was still twitching! Talk about fresh, haha!
Sweet and unbelievably fresh, these raw shrimp were a pure delight!

We started by appeasing our initial hunger with some appetizer porridge, delightful corn cheese macaroni, and a fluffy steamed egg – truly comforting starters!

There was also a fish cake soup with mussels, which was incredibly refreshing and had a spicy kick – absolutely perfect with a glass of soju!
The butter-grilled shrimp was incredibly tasty too,
and as for the ganjang-gejang (marinated raw crab)... well, let's just say I finished it all myself! Haha!

There was an incredible variety of seafood: steamed abalone, whelk, cockles, sea snails, sea squirts, scallops, salmon sashimi, scallop sashimi, rolls, and sushi.
It wasn't just the sheer number of options; overall,
everything was so fresh and delicious!

Even the basic *suki* (appetizers) like spicy raw fish salad (*hoemuchem*) and fried dishes were so diverse that
you could easily enjoy a drink just with them!
TMI, but the couple at the next table
had already mixed and finished their *somaek* (soju and beer mix) before the main sashimi even arrived! Lol!
They didn't just add a lot of unnecessary items; each of the basic appetizers
was genuinely delicious, which made it even more satisfying.
Hoe-tteul-nal Seasonal Assorted Sashimi for 2

Finally, the main event: the Hoe-tteul-nal Seasonal Assorted Sashimi has arrived!!

It's a portion for two, but the amount was so generous! Personally,
I love sashimi that's thickly sliced,
and Hoe-tteul-nal's sashimi was exactly my favorite style!!
I loved the thickness of the slices,
and the chewiness was fantastic, so I was quite pleased.
The appetizers were generous, and the sashimi was also served so beautifully,
talk about amazing value for money! Lol!

Since the main sashimi was out, we also toasted with non-alcoholic beer!!

They generously provided plenty of wasabi from the start,
so I loaded up my sashimi with a generous dollop of it~

Hoe-tteul-nal's dipping sauce was also delicious,
so I heartily wrapped the sashimi in *ssam* (fresh lettuce wraps).
As we were eating, the couple at the next table was about to leave,
when a staff member told them there was still more to come,
and they came back into the room??
Figuring there must be more dishes, we also waited for a moment!!

A little later, out came grilled fish, *gimmari* (seaweed spring rolls) & dried filefish tempura, and even *albap* (flying fish roe rice)!

Seriously, I was so full I thought I'd burst,
but strangely, seeing the *albap* made room for more! Lol!
We'd already eaten our fill from the basic appetizers to the sashimi, but
when warm dishes came out at the end, my spoon started moving again.

The grilled fish had a fantastic seasoning, which was a real kick, so I savored it with the *albap*!!
It's not just about eating sashimi and being done; starting with porridge to various seafood,
fried dishes, grilled fish, and *albap* kept coming, so
I thought it would be a fantastic spot for family gatherings or company dinners.
The Hoe-tteul-nal sashimi restaurant in Sangnam-dong, Seongsan-gu, Changwon, that I visited this time,
first of all, had a truly diverse array of basic appetizers,
and they were so generous that I was very satisfied.
Most importantly, even the main seasonal assorted sashimi
was thickly sliced and presented beautifully, which delighted even me, a sashimi lover.
From the fresh seafood to the final *albap*,
it felt like we had truly enjoyed a proper, filling feast!!
With such a diverse and generous array of basic appetizers,
and the main sashimi being so delicious,
it offers amazing value for money, so I highly recommend it as a sashimi restaurant in Seongsan-gu, Changwon!!
