Searching for authentic Thai food in Chiang Mai? Join me on a culinary journey to Bami Jia Chue, a local favorite for delicious noodles and dumplings.

When I'm exploring a new city, I'm always on the hunt for those hidden culinary gems that locals truly frequent, rather than the well-trodden tourist spots.
On my recent trip to Chiang Mai in 2026, I had the incredible opportunity to dine with a local resident.
They led me to a fantastic place that instantly became a favorite:
Bami Jia Chue.

1. Bami Jia Chue
Before my Chiang Mai adventure, I'll admit I went in completely without a plan, no restaurant research, no cafe lists, nothing! So, when my local friend took me to this absolute hidden gem, I was beyond grateful ❤️
Bami Jia Chue specializes in delicious egg noodles but also offers a fantastic array of other dishes, including savory dumplings and tender pork hock.
Even though it was busy with plenty of locals, we were lucky enough to walk right in without a wait!

2. The Menu
Browsing the menu, I was struck by how many tempting options there were!
The fried dumplings, in particular, caught my eye – and spoiler alert, this place is truly a dumpling paradise!!

We decided to share an order of egg noodles, some steamed shrimp dumplings, steamed pork dumplings, and a plate of pork hock.
To beat the heat, we also added some sparkling water :)
I used to wonder why anyone would choose sparkling water, but maybe it's an age thing (ha!), I now find its crisp, unsweetened bubbles are perfect for cleansing the palate during a meal.

3. Our Meal Review
First to arrive were the pork egg noodles and the pork hock!
These are actually dishes you'll find quite easily throughout Thailand, not just in Chiang Mai :)

The egg noodles, with their rich broth and perfectly cooked noodles, are a universally appealing Thai comfort food!
The portion was generous, and even half a bowl was incredibly satisfying.

But the real star of the show for me? The dumplings were truly amazing!
We originally intended to order one steamed and one fried, but somehow ended up with two orders of steamed.
No regrets though – whether steamed or fried, the dumplings at this Chiang Mai gem, Bami Jia Chue, are, hands down, the best I've had anywhere in Thailand!! ❤️

You can even watch them making the dumplings fresh in a corner of the restaurant, which is a treat in itself.
They're packed with filling and have a wonderful texture; I felt like I could eat them endlessly!

The shrimp dumplings, in particular, burst with juicy flavor thanks to the plump, succulent shrimp inside ><
Honestly, the dishes at Bami Jia Chue are so approachable and delicious, I think even those who are new to Thai cuisine would thoroughly enjoy them :)

4. Delivery Experience
A few days later, I heard that Bami Jia Chue is also famous for its Mala Noodles, so my companions and I decided to order some for a midday snack via delivery!
This time, we ordered the Mala Noodles along with more dumplings.
When I heard 'Mala Noodles,' I expected the intense, pungent flavors characteristic of mala, but these were surprisingly subtle and pleasantly spicy, without any overpowering aroma. They were absolutely delicious!
We ordered fried dumplings this time, but as often happens with delivery, they transformed into more of a steamed texture by the time they arrived, haha.
Still, Bami Jia Chue's dumplings were just as amazing – I still think about them! :)
5. Final Thoughts
If I ever find myself back in Chiang Mai, Bami Jia Chue will definitely be at the top of my must-revisit list!
Next time, I'm determined to enjoy those fried dumplings fresh and crispy right at the restaurant~
And you can bet I'll be ordering the Mala Noodles again with them! ><🥰
