Hey there, Global Explorers! I'm BomdaBom, and I'm excited to share a hidden gem from my recent trip to Gyeongju, South Korea.🌸
Hwanglidan-gil, a popular street in Gyeongju, is always bustling with tourists. So, when I visited, I made it my mission to find a tranquil cafe tucked away in a quiet alley – and I found just the spot!

1. Cafe Atmosphere
Baekyidang Cafe has the cozy vibe of a small, independent coffee shop!
(*Apologies, I couldn't get many detailed photos of the interior!)
Beyond the seating you see in the photos, they also offer comfortable floor seating with cushions, which is a lovely touch!
The cafe atmosphere is notably quiet, with gentle background music that's almost lulling. I was so relaxed, I actually found myself dozing off for about 30 minutes! I even noticed another student at a different table feeling sleepy and catching a quick nap. Is this the ultimate 'sleepy cafe'? 🍵
There were plenty of tables and chairs, perfect for conversations. You'll find multi-person tables and several four-seater options. The space is vibrantly decorated and tastefully adorned with colorful touches! I also spotted a couple of couples enjoying their time there.

You'll find the ordering counter further inside!
Restrooms are also available.
2. Menu
This cafe seems to be quite famous for its parfaits!
Available Menu: Various beverages, parfaits, cakes, bingsu (shaved ice), ice cream
•Beverages: ~$4-$5
•Ice Cream: ~$5-$6
•Parfaits: ~$8
•Desserts: ~$11
•Bingsu: ~$12
Among the drinks, the Strawberry Latte looked particularly popular.
I saw at least six people ordering it, so I decided to try it myself!

Near the counter, you'll find blankets available for free use.
On the opposite side, there's water and tissues.
And if you need Wi-Fi, be sure to ask for the password!
I actually spilled some of my drink on my clothes and was a bit flustered,
but my friend quickly grabbed some tissues for me.

3. Sweet Strawberry Latte & Einspanner
The Strawberry Latte was generously packed with strawberries. I was expecting a smaller cup, but it came in a surprisingly large size, which was a pleasant surprise! I had just finished a hearty meal of soon-jjigae and even enjoyed some ice cream on the way, so I only ordered a latte.
It was deliciously sweet! It wasn't a uniquely flavored latte, but a genuine, real strawberry latte, and true to its name, it had plenty of strawberries. Thumbs up!
As for the Lara Vienna Einspanner, the cream on top was wonderfully sweet and tasty.
My only minor critique is that it was a bit challenging to enjoy the cream and coffee together since they were almost equal parts. However, the cream itself was so incredibly delicious that I absolutely loved how generous they were with it! 🥺❤️

4. Overall Review
First and foremost, I loved how quiet it was. Many cafes you encounter walking around Gyeongju often have long waits or are packed with people. But Baekyidang is tucked away in an alley, so many people don't know about it yet! That's a big plus!
It's a solid, reliable cafe. Next time, I'm definitely going to try one of their famous parfaits!
Also, keep an eye out for Yangjida Cafe on your way there – it's another great spot!
Thank you for reading this lengthy review, and I hope you have a wonderful trip to Gyeongju! 👍
