Last August, did everyone pay their local resident tax?
Time to get that resident tax back,,
That's why I attended the free
Jeonju City Open Citizen Lecture.
Apparently, this was already the 222nd session,
and it feels like a program where our taxes are being put to relatively good use,
so I plan to attend again in the future! ^,~
Alsseulsinjap?
Dr. Jeong Jae-seung, a Brain Scientist
The one from Alsseulsinjap?
His recognition among the general public
(including myself...)
But earlier this year, in January, due to a company convention,
I had already heard his lecture in Da Nang,.

In a convention hall with hundreds of people,
and my table was even at the back,
so it was a bit difficult to concentrate on the lecture.
However, the lecture content was suitably enjoyable and informative,
with many interesting topics,
which made me regret being seated at the back.
He came for a corporate lecture,
and prepared EXTREMELY well,
unlike someone who came as a lecturer years ago, hands in pockets, just strutting around the whole time.
The comparison was just stark! (P)

Amidst all this,
I stumbled upon an advertisement for his lecture on the bus,
and, as if entranced, I signed up.

📍 Jeonju Deokjin Arts Center
407 Gwonsamdeuk-ro, Deokjin-gu, Jeonju-si, Jeonbuk Special Self-Governing Province
Just like Ulsan Culture and Arts Center,
the Jeonju Deokjin Arts Center is small and charming.
haha
It was my first time visiting since I started living in Jeonju,,

Seeing the professor's banner, which had a youthful feel,
I entered, brimming with an internal sense of welcome.
After confirming my identity, they gave me a sticker.
I thought, 'Is this for a lucky number draw or something?'
but then realized it was just to distinguish between registered and unregistered attendees.
What a disappointment for a shameless,
small-time resident tax payer like me!

Since it was open seating, you could sit wherever you wanted,
but many people had already reserved the front rows,
so I successfully found a seat around the 5th row.

There was also a survey,
and post-it notes were provided to write down questions for the professor or related to the lecture content,
to be stuck on a board.

There was also a celebratory performance.
They sang 'Sarang-ga' and a 'song to get rich' (?), among others.
Everyone cheered and sang along with 'Eolssu! Jota! Jalhanda!'

Then the host came onto the stage,
and I kept thinking, 'They look familiar... very familiar!'
It turned out to be the owner of the bookstore, 'Jal Igeun Eoneodeul.'
Oh wow, how cool!
Like an emcee at a first birthday party (doljanchi),
they asked, 'Who came from the furthest?'
And it was interesting that there were even people from other organizations who came to benchmark the lecture.

Recap of Professor Jeong Jaeseung's Open Citizen Lecture

After the performance and announcements,
the lecture began around 7:30 PM.

Saying he wanted to lecture closer to the audience,
he came down from the stage,
but then went back up to lecture for those on the second floor.

While some chapters covered content I'd heard in January,
the lecture was so engaging and beneficial when I really focused,
that even though it was a full two-hour session, time just flew by! It felt like it was over in a flash.

anterior superior temporal gyrus activation
No, Mom!! What are you talking about?
I'm currently undergoing anterior superior temporal gyrus activation!
LOL, my terrible brain only remembers that!
To the point where terms like 'brain rot' exist,
people nowadays waste all their time on media and short-form content,
I write this, reflecting on myself...
I need to read books, meditate, and
put my phone down한 채로
make time to awaken my brain 🧠. That's the lesson I learned.

Finally, it was time for questions + reading notes.
LOL, how many people
wrote down their phone numbers? That really cracked me up!

The professor with a warm and approachable demeanor.

At the end, he even held an autograph session and took photos with attendees.
I wish I had brought a book...
A belated regret.
LOL, to just ask for a photo, saying 'I saw you in January,' without anything to sign,
perhaps I wasn't desperate enough?
Anyway, that concludes the lecture! LOL.
