Youropo Downtown Porto Review: Best Value & Location
Planning a trip to Porto in 2026? Discover why Youropo Downtown is the ultimate base for your Portuguese adventure, offering massive rooms and prime location.

Porto, Portugal Hotel Recommendation
Youropo Downtown Hotel: Unbeatable Location Near Bolhão Market
If you are looking for an accommodation in Porto that nails both budget and location,
this is exactly where you need to be!
Porto is a highly walkable city, and this hotel makes it effortless.
You are just a 1-minute walk from the famous Bolhão Market,
a 1-minute walk to the Santa Catarina shopping street,
and dangerously close to some of the best egg tart bakeries in town >,<
Most importantly, the room itself was absolutely incredible.
I highly recommend adding this to your shortlist for your 2026 European getaway!

1. Location & Why I Chose It
The two main reasons I booked this spot were location and price.
Youropo Downtown delivered perfectly on both fronts!
Plus, the facilities themselves were completely flawless.
It sits right in the heart of downtown Porto,
meaning you can easily walk to almost every major attraction.

Let's talk about convenience.
There is a Pingo Doce supermarket right next to the reception,
which made picking up daily groceries incredibly easy!
Supermarket prices in Portugal are very affordable,
so definitely hit it up for snacks, drinks, and fresh produce.
If you are heading out to the wineries across the river,
I highly recommend using the Bolt app—rides are super cheap!

We visited as a couples trip (almost like a second honeymoon!),
and I can confidently say it's a great pick for couples looking for romance and comfort.
While places like the Ribeira district or Morro Garden might seem a bit far on the map,
you absolutely must walk there through the back alleys!
The narrow streets are full of stunning graffiti and traditional azulejo tiles,
making for some spectacular photo ops.
Many of these streets are pedestrian-only, so you'd miss them if you took a car.
2. Price & How to Book
The price averages around ~$154 per night, which is a fantastic mid-range rate for the area.
Keep in mind there is a Porto city tax of 3 EUR per person, per night.
You simply pay this city tax at the reception when you check in.

You can easily book through major platforms like Agoda or Trip.com.
However, I noticed Agoda often shows low availability
or says the rooms are completely sold out...
If you prefer Agoda, definitely book well in advance!

For the exact same dates, Trip.com still had rooms available!
I booked their most affordable option,
the Loft (1 Bedroom), and it was more than enough space.
I had some points saved up, so Trip.com was the winner for me.
>> Check Trip.com Availability
Since Youropo Downtown can sometimes be tricky to find across platforms,
I did some digging and found it available on 🔗 Booking.com as well.
The prices are fairly consistent, so just use your preferred booking site!
3. Room Tour & Facilities
Standard check-in is from 3:00 PM,
but we arrived around 1:00 PM and our room was already prepared!
They happily let us check in early, which started the trip off on a high note.
The reception staff were genuinely so sweet and helpful.

Walking in to take a quick video,
I literally couldn't stop smiling because the space was so vast and pristine.
I immediately thought, "Wow, I nailed this booking!" haha.
It's roughly 440 sq ft (41m²)—a size you almost never see in European city hotels!

Because it's an apartment-style hotel, it comes fully equipped.
There's a microwave/oven combo, an electric kettle, a coffee machine,
and all the pots, pans, and tableware you could need.
Eating out in Porto can add up, so if you want to save some cash,
grabbing groceries and cooking a quick meal here is a fantastic option!

For bath amenities, they provide shampoo, body wash, and hand soap,
so you'll want to pack your own conditioner and skincare.
The hot water worked perfectly, and the water pressure was solid!
We stayed here for 3 nights, and their 24-hour WhatsApp concierge was a lifesaver.
You just shoot them a message and they respond immediately.
On our first day, we requested extra towels and they brought up a huge stack.
On our last day, we asked for room cleaning,
and they even washed our dirty dishes for us...!

Just look at how spacious this room is!
There's plenty of closet space to hang clothes and a massive full-length mirror.
We visited in April, but on warmer afternoons we turned on the AC,
and let me tell you, the air conditioning in this place is powerful!

The most important part of any hotel is the bed, right?
The linens were crisp, fresh, and breathable,
and the mattress had that perfect sink-in feeling. We slept like babies!
There are outlets on both sides of the bed, plus bedside tables
which made charging phones and storing small items super convenient.

There's a plush sofa right in front of the TV,
perfect for lounging around after a long day of walking before you shower!
The smart TV connects to YouTube,
so we spent our evenings sitting at the dining table behind the sofa,
eating late-night snacks and watching videos. Pure happiness... haha.

Getting to throw open these classic European windows was a dream!
They open right up to the subway station and Bolhão Market.
Because it's a bustling area, the neighborhood felt very safe.
I actually asked the female receptionist about safety at night,
and she said that while you should always use common sense in any city,
she personally feels very safe walking around this area!
Throughout our entire stay, we never once felt uneasy about security.
4. Good to Know Before You Go
After booking, you'll receive an email asking you to fill out
your check-in information in advance. Do it! It saves so much time.
We didn't even need to show our passports—just gave our name and got our keys.

One quirky thing: the physical check-in desk is about a 1-2 minute walk from the actual rooms.
You check in at the Youropo - Bolhão branch!
I thought it might be annoying, but it's literally just around the corner.
📍 YOUROPO - Bolhão (Check-in Desk)
R. de Sá da Bandeira 393 397, 4000-435 Porto, Portugal
📍 YOUROPO - Downtown (Your Room)
R. de Alexandre Braga 124, 4000-049 Porto, Portugal
Also, make sure you have WhatsApp installed before you arrive!!
Anytime you need something, you just text them.
It is infinitely more convenient than walking down to a reception desk.

Your room will be in this gorgeous wine-colored building.
There's a small "Youropo Downtown" sign on the right side of the entrance.
They give you 3 physical keys and explain exactly which door
each key opens during check-in.
Having multiple locked doors actually made us feel incredibly secure.
There is a spacious elevator inside,
so dragging heavy luggage up to your room is a breeze! ㅎ.ㅎ

We were absolutely thrilled with our 3-night stay here!
The facilities were top-notch,
and the location made navigating the city a dream :)
Of course, Porto is famous for its endless steep hills,
so you'll be doing a lot of climbing no matter where you stay.
But the city is so romantic and vibrant that you quickly forget the leg burn.
If you want an affordable, perfectly located hotel in Porto, look no further.
