Yaoya to Gohan Okura Osaka: Authentic Japanese Home Cooking
Craving authentic Japanese home cooking in Osaka? Discover Yaoya to Gohan Okura, a local favorite near Yotsubashi Station known for delicious, organic meals and a lively atmosphere.
Near Shinsaibashi,
close to Namba's Orange Street,
and just a 3-minute walk from
Yotsubashi Station!
I headed out to try
some authentic Japanese home cooking
at Yaoya to Gohan Okura.
This is a special restaurant where
a certified sports nutritionist crafts healthy meals
using fresh, organic vegetables.
It is actually a local chain,
so there are
several branches across Osaka!

Rather than tourists,
it was packed with locals
and had a pretty long line.
The vibe around here
is super trendy and lively!
Right in front of it,
there was another long queue
for a croquant chou dessert spot.
Just waiting in line
felt so exciting because
the neighborhood atmosphere was amazing.

You write your name on the waiting list,
hang out, and wait for them
to call your name.
Because it was so crowded,
our family of 7
split up into tables of 4 and 3
to get seated.
Luckily, there are chairs
in the waiting area next door,
making it very comfortable.
My nieces and nephews
were able to sit down and rest while we waited.
Opening Hours
11:00 AM - 11:00 PM
Last Order: 10:30 PM
Menu

They say the side dishes for the set meals
change every single day!
Doesn't it look delicious just from the photos?
You can really tell the vegetables are super fresh.
Interior & Seating

There were about 10 tables
that could seat 4 people each.
Menu

They also have organic coffee
and even sell delicious kimchi!

You can easily order
with your phone,
and for the rice,
you can choose between small and large portions!
Aside from the set meals,
you can also order drinks
and side dishes separately,
and they even have fried fish!
The Food
Karaage (Fried Chicken) Set - 1,450 yen
Ginger Pork Set - 1,450 yen
And we ordered the Fish Set for 2,080 yen!
While standard miso soup is included,
you can pay
a little extra
to upgrade it to Tonjiru
(hearty pork miso soup).

The karaage fried chicken
comes coated
in a delicious sauce,
and honestly,
this was my absolute
favorite!
I loved how many side dishes were included.
I remember when I visited Okinawa
and ordered a meat dish,
literally nothing else came out—
just the meat and soy sauce,
which was quite
a shock at the time!
Simmered radish,
salad,
miso soup,
braised napa cabbage,
okara (soy pulp),
and even pickled radish instead of kimchi!
They also serve miso soup,
and the portion of rice is huge.
Even the small size was plenty!

My parents ordered
the set with fish, simmered chicken,
and even handmade yogurt—
it was a beautiful feast!

This is the Ginger Pork,
which has a clean, subtle flavor.
It came with grated mountain yam,
and it really felt
like a super healthy,
nourishing meal for the body!

Japanese rolled omelets (tamagoyaki)
have sugar in them, so they are
a bit sweet.
We ordered one as an extra side!

While it might not be mind-blowingly
extraordinary,
it uses organic vegetables
and offers a clean, tidy,
and healthy Japanese home-style meal.
With such a great variety,
we left feeling completely satisfied!

📍 Yaoya to Gohan Okura
1F, 1-4-14 Kitahorie, Nishi Ward, Osaka, 550-0014, Japan
Just a 3-minute walk from Yotsubashi Station!
This spot is actually right in front of
the Yaoya to Gohan Okura branch.
The line was incredibly long,
and the croquant choux
looked so delicious
that I had to grab some for a snack.
The shop's name is
kogashi.

Inside the shop, the staff
fills each puff with fresh cream
right on the spot!

They sell them in packs of 10, 20, or 30,
but since they're bite-sized, we polished off 10 in no time.
Crispy and warm on the outside,
and filled with rich custard cream
flecked with real vanilla bean—
it was absolutely delicious!

They are ~$5 for 10 pieces,
but with 7 of us
sharing with the kids,
it was the perfect sweet treat to enjoy together!
