Yangyang Seorak Beach Guide 2026: Metabeach Cafe & Stays

Out of all the countless beaches along Korea's East Sea,

today I want to share a cozy, beautiful little spot

that I've been keeping all to myself.

It's none other than Seorak Beach in Yangyang!

I’ve put together everything you need to know, from my personal swimming experience

to the beachfront hotspot Metabeach Yangyang,

and even some great nearby accommodations.

Since it's just a 10-minute drive

from the Sokcho Express Bus Terminal,

it's an incredibly easy beach to visit even if you're traveling without a car.

I've also been to Naksan Beach right next door,

but personally, I liked Seorak Beach much better.

While Yangyang is packed with trendy hotspots lately,

I much prefer quiet, private vibes

over crowded, chaotic spots.

And most of all, the water is incredibly clear!

You can see the fish swimming around with the naked eye,

so I highly recommend it if you love snorkeling.

The sand is so soft and the seabed is so clean that

you can easily walk around barefoot without water shoes.

The water is shallow and the waves are gentle, making it a

perfect beach to enjoy with kids.

Seorak Beach is also a popular spot for surfers.

There are plenty of surf schools nearby,

so if you're interested in giving surfing a try, this is the place to be!

Even with the surfers around, you can swim without any worries!

The surfing zone and swimming zone are clearly divided by yellow buoys,

keeping everyone safe.

Plus, during the peak season, lifeguards are on duty,

so you can splash around with peace of mind.

If you walk down to the edge of Yangyang's Seorak Beach,

you'll find Metabeach Yangyang (Cafe & Bar).

The terrace overlooking the ocean is absolutely amazing!!

I only discovered this spot on my second visit to Seorak Beach,

and it is the ultimate place to sit back and relax after a swim.

They serve everything from burgers, pizza, and beer to ice cream,

making it a crowd-pleaser even if you're visiting with kids.

After my swim, I ordered some Cajun chicken and two cold beers—

who needs to travel abroad? It was absolute paradise.

The spot on the right side of Seorak Beach where I enjoyed swimming was

At first, I didn't see any parasols around.

But if you walk over toward Meta Beach Yangyang,

they have parasols, tables, and chairs set up as a package!

If you want to keep your bags secure and just relax in comfort,

I highly recommend renting one of these sets.

Where to Stay: My Top Picks

While there are quite a few pensions near Seorak Beach,

most of them felt a bit dated, so

I spent a lot of time debating where to book.
