Wonjo Somunnan Muchimhoe, a renowned eatery in Gangneung Central Market, specializes in two main dishes: their famous Spicy Squid Salad (Ojing-eo Muchim) and savory Cockle Salad (Kkomak Muchim).

They also offer Flat Dumplings (Nappjak Mandu), which are the perfect accompaniment to the main seafood salads, so keep that in mind when you order!

🐙 My Honest Review of the Spicy Squid Salad

Once I was back at the hotel, it was unboxing time! I had heard so many good things about Wonjo Somunnan Muchimhoe at Gangneung Central Market, and I was incredibly excited to try it.

When you order for takeout, the special sauce is packed separately. This means you get to see the vibrant freshness of the vegetables and the plump, chewy texture of the squid before mixing.

The Muchimhoe was generously portioned with a perfect balance of crisp vegetables, tender squid, and delicious sea snails!

The sweet, tangy, and slightly spicy special sauce, along with fragrant sesame oil, was already delicious on its own! They even thoughtfully included disposable gloves for easy mixing.

So, gloves on! Add the sauce, drizzle the sesame oil, and give it a good shake-shake! The combination of the tangy, spicy sauce and the nutty aroma of sesame oil was absolutely irresistible.

Even Better with Flat Dumplings!

The Flat Dumplings are grilled fresh on the spot, arriving warm and perfectly browned! I specifically chose the set with Muchimhoe and dumplings because I heard how well they go together, and it was a decision I definitely didn't regret.

The crispy, chewy flat dumplings perfectly complemented the sweet, tangy, and spicy Muchimhoe.

The refreshing crunch of watercress (minari) throughout, the crisp vegetables, the tender and chewy squid, and the flat dumplings that perfectly mellowed out the spicy kick – it was a symphony of flavors and textures!

I enjoyed it so much that I even bought another portion on my way home, purely out of my own pocket! Even with the roughly 3-hour drive from Gangneung back home, the insulated packaging kept it wonderfully fresh.
