My friend and I kicked off an epic 20-day adventure across Shandong province in 2026, starting with Weihai, then Yantai, and finally Qingdao.
Our first stop was a relaxing overnight stay at the Weihai Tianmu Hot Spring Resort. While the hot springs were definitely a highlight, we ended up having both dinner and breakfast right at the resort, and let me tell you, there's a lot to unpack about the dining experience!
From must-try dinner recommendations to an honest breakfast review, I'm spilling all the details about dining at Weihai Tianmu Hot Spring Resort today.

Weihai Tianmu Hot Spring Resort Dinner: Grand Scale Dining

The Tianmu Hot Spring Resort is genuinely in the middle of nowhere. Venturing out for food isn't really an option, so dining within the resort is pretty much a given for dinner.
The restaurant's dinner hours are from 5:30 PM to 9:00 PM,
with the last order typically around 8:30 PM.
A la carte dishes can take a bit to prepare, so if you finish your hot spring soak too late, you might find yourself rushing to order. Keep that in mind!

We headed in around 7:00 PM. The first thing that struck us was the sheer scale of the place.
The Weihai Tianmu Hot Spring Resort restaurant, which serves both breakfast and dinner, isn't just a regular dining spot; it's practically a banquet hall! The sheer size was the first thing that struck us.
With this much space, even large families with kids won't have to worry about finding a table. It's incredibly accommodating.

Once seated, a staff member promptly brought us tableware and poured tea. All ordering is done via the QR code on your table.
QR Code Ordering: Tips to Avoid Common Mistakes

Ordering involves scanning a QR code on your table, which you'll need to do using Alipay. Even with the translation function enabled, menu item names appear, but it's often hard to tell exactly what the dish is just from the name.
So, we mostly picked dishes based on their translated names, leaning towards safer, more familiar options.

Now, here's a crucial tip to save you some hassle:
Without realizing it, one of our dishes was actually ordered twice.
We only noticed it on the bill later — the same item was listed twice. We had to speak to the waiter to cancel the duplicate, and the cancellation note was still there.
Since it's a self-service QR ordering system, it seems easy for a double-tap to go unnoticed. I highly recommend double-checking your order list on the screen *before* confirming.
Our Dinner Experience: Menu Reviews & a Kind Encounter
While we were deliberating over the menu, a kind Korean lady at the next table struck up a conversation. She asked if we had ordered yet, and then, explaining that they had ordered too much and were full, she generously offered us some of their untouched food, saying we reminded her of her sons.

The dishes we received were
Lamb Ribs, Guobaorou (sweet and sour pork), and Fried Rice.
The Lamb Ribs had absolutely no gamey smell, with a perfect balance of lean meat and fat. They were incredibly flavorful, almost like they were seasoned with cumin, and boneless, making them super easy to eat. Highly recommended!
The Guobaorou was intensely sweet and sour, with a prominent ginger flavor, and the batter was wonderfully crispy.
However, the Fried Rice was quite plain, almost like steamed rice. Don't set your expectations too high for this one.
Our Ordered Menu
The dishes we ordered ourselves were Mojisuijiao (58 CNY), Haisen Dalu Mian Zhong (16 CNY), and Congxiang Chuizha Xiaren (68 CNY).

Mojisuijiao, whose name gave no clues, turned out to be dumplings made with squid ink when we tasted them. They had a moist texture and were quite palatable.

Haisen Dalu Mian Zhong was a seafood noodle soup, but it was incredibly bland, tasting almost like plain egg drop soup with noodles.

Congxiang Chuizha Xiaren was essentially fried shrimp. While the batter was crispy, it tasted pretty much exactly as you'd expect — nothing surprising.
These three dishes alone totaled 142 CNY. As expected for resort dining, the prices were on the higher side.
Breakfast at the Resort: How It Works & Our Honest Opinion

Breakfast hours were from 7:00 AM to 9:30 AM. Rather than arriving right at the 9:30 AM closing time, I'd suggest heading down around 8:30 AM.
The hot spring area opens at 9:00 AM, so having breakfast around 8:30 AM allows you to seamlessly transition into an invigorating morning soak.

Entry to breakfast simply requires showing your room key. The process is straightforward: grab a table, then head straight to the buffet.
While there was a decent variety of dishes, honestly, it was a bit underwhelming compared to breakfast buffets I've experienced in Southeast Asia. (You can see a full overview in the video.)

The buffet layout extends quite a bit inward. If you venture further in, you'll find a station where you can pick your noodles and dumplings, then choose your broth.
I opted for the dumpling soup, but it tasted bland, like a watered-down mix of seaweed soup and egg drop soup.

I usually have a hearty breakfast, but many of the options didn't appeal to me, so I didn't pile my plate high. Most of the other dishes were also lightly seasoned, which felt a bit plain for my palate.
Wrapping Up: Dinner and Breakfast at a Glance
To sum it all up, here's a quick overview:
Dinner uses a QR self-ordering system, so always double-check for duplicate orders. Also, the last order is typically around 8:30 PM, so don't finish your hot spring activities too late or you might miss out!
Our own ordered dishes alone came to 142 CNY, indicating that resort dining is on the pricier side. Keep this in mind when budgeting for your trip.
The restaurant is as vast as a banquet hall, so large families with children won't have any trouble finding seating.
For breakfast, arriving around 8:30 AM is ideal, as it allows you to transition straight to the hot springs which open at 9:00 AM. However, be aware that the flavors are generally mild, so it might not appeal to everyone's taste.
This was our first meal on our 20-day adventure, and thanks to the kind lady next to us, dinner was incredibly satisfying and abundant. Breakfast, on the other hand, was simply decent, nothing to write home about.
In my next post, I'll dive into the resort's true highlight: the hot spring experience itself!

Orders are placed by scanning the QR code on the table with Alipay. Although there is a Korean translation function, it can be difficult to accurately identify dishes solely from the menu names. When ordering via QR, a touch error can lead to duplicate orders of the same item, so it's advisable to double-check the list displayed on the screen after placing your order.
Lamb ribs are recommended because they have no gamey smell, are savory, and easy to eat. Guo Bao Rou (sweet and sour pork) is sour, has a strong ginger aroma, and a crispy coating. The three dishes the author personally ordered totaled 142 Chinese Yuan (CNY), and as it's a restaurant within a resort, the prices are on the higher side.
Breakfast is served from 07:00 to 09:30. Since the hot spring area opens at 09:00, it's a good idea to have breakfast around 08:30, allowing for a smooth transition to enjoying the hot springs afterward.
Dinner operating hours are from 17:30 to 21:00, with the last order typically around 20:30. Since à la carte dishes may take time to prepare, arriving too late after your hot spring schedule might make it difficult to place an order in time.
