2. My Weihai Park Travel Review

As soon as I arrived at the Weihai Park photo frame, the first thing I noticed was the presence of professional photographers.
It's common at popular Chinese attractions to find photographers offering their services for a fee, and I have to say, the quality looked pretty decent!
They typically charge around ~$2-3 per photo and are experts at positioning you perfectly within the frame. They even use props like balloons and ladders to get that ideal shot.
It seems you really need a ladder to get that perfectly framed picture where you're truly 'inside' the artwork.

I opted out of the paid photography, figuring my friend and I could capture some great shots ourselves. Many younger visitors seemed to be doing the same!

Getting the perfect picture with the frame wasn't as easy as it looked, which made me understand why the professional photographers were there!

We spent a fun while mimicking other photographers and trying out various poses.

Pro Tip: For the best photos, aim for early morning or late afternoon. The lower sun angle provides softer, more flattering light.

After our photo session, we took a little stroll around. Just behind the photo frame, we discovered a lively flock of seagulls.
People were either mesmerized watching them or actively feeding them.

You can buy 'seagull sausages' for about ~$0.50. I figured, why not? It's a small price to pay for a fun experience! (I paid via QR code using Alipay).
I sat cross-legged on the ground, soaking in the atmosphere, and tossed the sausages to the eager seagulls.
It would be a shame to just see the photo frame and leave, so I explored the long coastal promenade nearby. There were various shops to browse, making for a pleasant wander.
⭐ On the way back, I grabbed some street snacks! |

When I travel, I absolutely love trying local snacks and authentic cuisine.
I spotted some Guihua Gao (桂花糕) for ~$1 and decided to give it a try!

Guihua Gao is a steamed snack made from glutinous rice or rice flour, infused with osmanthus flower syrup. When I tasted it, it reminded me of a fluffy, slightly sweet rice cake, almost like a cross between a sweet rice dumpling and a steamed bun, dusted with sugar.
And that wraps up my review of Weihai Park! ✌️
