Dongbuk Ajusshi Guobarou: A Highly Recommended Must-Try!

When you visit Weihai, China, and explore the Hanlafang (Hanlerfang) Night Market,
there's one food stall you absolutely must try: Dongbuk Ajusshi Guobarou!
Everyone raves about this particular spot when they come to Hanlafang Night Market, and it's easy to see why – it's renowned for its incredible Guobarou!
You'll find the stall right in the middle of the Hanlafang Night Market, making it super easy to spot. Just look for it directly across from Chai Cafe!

Even for a Chinese night market, this place is surprisingly clean and hygienic. The portions are generous, and most importantly, the Guobarou is absolutely delicious! I loved it so much that I visited multiple times during my trip.💕
The stall's name is Dongbuk Ajusshi's Guobarou, which in Chinese is 东北大叔锅包肉.
While it might not show up independently on international map apps, you can easily find it by searching for the Hanlafang (韩乐坊夜市) Night Market in a local navigation app like Gaode Maps and then looking for the stall within the market itself!

You'll likely find Dongbuk Ajusshi, the famous Guobarou spot at Hanlafang Night Market, without much trouble. 😉
Why? Because it's the only place with a super long line! It's a true local favorite at Hanlafang, with residents lining up to get their fix!
First, you join the queue. Then, you simply scan a QR code (using apps like Alipay) to pay for your desired size. After payment, a friendly staff member will hand you a number ticket.
A small cup costs 17 CNY, and a large cup is 21 CNY. In USD, that's approximately ~$3 for both sizes. (Seriously, the value here is incredible!)
Must-Try Guobarou at Weihai Hanlafang Night Market

While waiting in line, I got to watch the preparation process, and I was genuinely surprised by how incredibly clean everything was! ✨
They constantly change to fresh oil with each batch and diligently wipe down the cooking area. Such hygiene made me feel completely at ease. 😊
I also discovered why this Guobarou stall is so famous at Hanlafang Night Market: the owner fries the pork not once, but twice!
This double-frying technique is the secret to its unbelievably crispy texture, which is definitely a key reason for its popularity. 😉

The ingredient bins were spotless, and the prepped ingredients looked incredibly fresh. 😊
On my first visit, a staff member (not one of the cooks) asked me if I wanted cilantro. However, on my second day, that staff member wasn't there, and I forgot to say no cilantro. Honestly, I didn't notice much difference in taste either time, haha!
If you're not a fan of cilantro, you'll probably be fine either way. But if you really want more cilantro flavor, just use a translation app to communicate your preference to the staff!

Here's the mouth-watering process: the perfectly fried, crispy Guobarou is tossed and coated in its delicious sauce. 😍
From this moment, it looks so incredibly tasty, it's hard not to drool! You can tell just by looking at it how crispy and fresh the Guobarou is.
It's so popular that even on Chinese social media platforms like Xiaohongshu, it's widely recognized as a must-visit spot at Hanlafang Night Market. Locals line up consistently to get their hands on it! ( •̀ ω •́ )✧

I ordered the small cup, and it was the perfect amount for a snack or late-night treat. 😊
Even sharing it between two people, the small cup was surprisingly generous – plenty to satisfy! ♪(´▽`)
They pile the Guobarou and sauce high into the cup and then place it in a plastic bag, making it super convenient to carry around while you explore the rest of the night market.
Dongbuk Ajusshi Guobarou: Weihai Hanlafang Night Market's Best

I couldn't resist trying it right there in the Hanlafang Night Market, and my friend and I both agreed: it was absolutely phenomenal! 🤩
We hadn't planned on eating on the street, but after just one bite, it was so good we kept reaching for more. Truly delicious! 😍
Even when we got back to our accommodation and finished the rest of the Guobarou, the sauce was incredibly savory with the perfect amount of tanginess. And the fried pork itself was so crispy and perfectly cooked. It was, without a doubt, an amazing find at Hanlafang Night Market!
What's even better is that even after sitting for a bit on the way back to the hotel, and while we chatted and ate, it didn't get soggy. This Guobarou stays delicious even when it cools down! (´▽`ʃ♡ƪ)

I even woke up the next day still thinking about that Guobarou! So, throughout my entire trip to Weihai, China, I kept going back to Hanlerfang Night Market just to eat more of it!
The owner was incredibly charming and friendly, even asking if I was Korean and treating me wonderfully. 😊
Because the food was so delicious and the service so kind, I happily used a translation app to tell them I'd come back again! 😆
If you're ever in Weihai, China, make sure to visit Hanlafang Night Market
and absolutely try the Guobarou at <Dongbuk Ajusshi>! You won't regret it! 👍
Dongbei Ajusshi Guobaorou does not appear separately on Gaode Maps. You need to enter '韩乐坊夜市' (Hanlefong Night Market in Chinese) into Gaode Maps and then locate the stall within the night market. The stall is located in the middle of the night market, directly in front of Charge Cafe.
Dongbei Ajusshi Guobaorou costs 17 CNY for a small cup (~$3) and 21 CNY for a large cup (~$3). Payment is made by transferring money for the desired size via QR code, such as Alipay.
Dongbei Ajusshi Guobaorou is prepared hygienically, with continuous replacement of fresh oil and regular cleaning of the cooking area. The key to its popularity is frying the guobaorou twice, which makes it extra crispy and provides an excellent texture.
Yes, the staff may ask if you want to add cilantro. If you don't want it, you can eat it as is, and if you want more cilantro flavor, you can use a translator to request it from the staff.
