5. What to Pack for Vinpearl Safari Phu Quoc
Out of all the places on our Phu Quoc travel itinerary, Vinpearl Safari Phu Quoc was the one I pondered over the most.
Initially, I considered an morning visit because I heard so much about it being "an open-run must."
However, our plans changed, and we ended up going in the afternoon. Ugh!
So, I'm going to share my honest thoughts on our afternoon visit.
To cut to the chase, an afternoon visit is certainly possible,
but it definitely left me wishing we'd done things differently. 🥺
My Review of Vinpearl Safari Phu Quoc (Why I Chose an Afternoon Visit)
During our trip to Phu Quoc, Vietnam, we planned a visit to Vinpearl Safari.
We'd already bought combo tickets for VinWonders and the Safari in advance from the official website,
and our original plan was to do "open-runs" for both attractions over two days.
After visiting VinWonders on the first day, the weather turned a bit cloudy,
and everyone in the family was pretty drained.
What's more, the next day was our last at the Melia Vinpearl Pool Villa,
so we really wanted to enjoy a leisurely morning at the resort.
That's why we decided to visit Vinpearl Safari in the afternoon.
Looking back now, I wish our VinWonders and Safari schedule had been swapped due to the weather.

How to Buy Vinpearl Safari Tickets (Official Website Combo Tickets)
I heard that buying directly from the official website was the cheapest option,
so I just went ahead and purchased our tickets there, even though I was a bit lazy.
Since there was a 10% discount on the Vinpearl Safari electric buggy, I bought that too.
They said the buggy is almost essential for Vinpearl Safari because the walking distances inside are quite long.
The 2-day combo + electric buggy for 4 people (4 people) came out to 5,454,000 VND.
That's about ~$55 per person.
I've captured some screenshots of what comes up when I search now.
Prices can vary depending on your travel dates.

(Sometimes Klook, KKday, and similar platforms have special deals,
so if you have time, compare prices across a few sites for the best rate.)

Vinpearl Safari Zookeeper Experience · VIP Tickets, Efficient Routes
I also really wanted to try the zookeeper experience (I thought my second child would absolutely love it!).
Since we had an afternoon ticket, I thought it would be hard to keep to a schedule, so I debated buying it but decided against it.
Plus, I saw some posts saying it might be boring for elementary school-aged kids,
so I just skipped it.
They said you need to book the zookeeper experience a week in advance (for morning tickets).
Even for VIP tickets, since it was already afternoon, and we had already spent a fair bit on tickets,
I wondered 'Is it really necessary?' and decided against it, but because it was so hot, we couldn't see everything properly, and
I started thinking maybe I should have just sprung for the VIP tickets.
If you've come all the way to the safari anyway, I wondered if I should have just opted to see as much as possible in a shorter amount of time.
Because it's hot during the day...
If I were to go again
If your schedule allows,
and if you want to truly enjoy the safari,
(especially if your children are young) I'd recommend, if possible, doing it as many others have suggested:
I recommend doing the open run, VIP tickets, and even the zookeeper experience.
There's a reason behind Koreans' efficient itineraries!

Vinpearl Safari Afternoon Visit: A Real-Life Review
Upon entering, you'll be greeted by flamingos!

I heard it's so vast that you have to give up on seeing some parts,
and that we should skip the Reptile House.
But since my kids are huge lizard fans, we just popped in for a quick look!

The parrot experience is a paid activity.

We got around on a buggy.

The main animals we wanted to see today were elephants, giraffes, and monkeys (!)
As for the monkeys, on our way back down,
we just passed by them and only caught a glimpse. Such a shame! ㅠ
Heading to the elephants by buggy
Visiting in the afternoon definitely reduced the number of experiences available.
First, it was hot, and the strong sunlight made it tough.
Of course, there was no elephant food available,
but when I held out my hand, the elephants still came over!
They thought I had food... ㅠㅠ We were so touched!
We wanted to feed you too!

Next up was the Giraffe Restaurant.
Giraffe feeding could only be purchased as part of a combo.
The combo with a doll cost 160,000 VND.
As others had mentioned, we quickly headed inside the Giraffe Restaurant.

There were so many people that snapping good photos was a real challenge!

Luckily, even in the afternoon,
the giraffes came right over for feeding.
I got to see them really up close!

Next, we moved around on the safari bus.
We were told to sit on the front left,
but there were so many people, it was impossible... ㅠㅠㅠ

Still, it was wonderful to see the animals roaming freely in such a vast natural environment.
Plus, the safari bus was nice and cool, which made it even better.
However,
a foreign child sitting next to us was screaming so loudly...
I couldn't hear the guide at all;; They looked like they were from India...
And the parents didn't stop them;;;
Feeling hungry, we finally got off the bus.

We took our time admiring the flamingos before heading down.

Hearing some sounds near the entrance, I looked over and saw a performance!
(There was a place to put in money.)

Phu Quoc Vinpearl Safari Packing List Recap
<Essentials>
Hat & Sunglasses
Bottled Water
Portable Fan
Tumbler (for ice, not essential)
Hat & sunglasses were absolute lifesavers this time. The sun is intense! ㅠ
A portable fan is also a must-have, especially if it's lightweight. It's what got me through the day!
I brought a tumbler with ice, but it didn't feel absolutely essential.
We took the Vinbus
to Grand World for 'linner' (lunch + dinner).
