Found a hidden gem in Phu Quoc's Grand World! Mơ Đào Mận Riverside serves up authentic, delicious, and budget-friendly Vietnamese cuisine. A must-try local spot!
If you're anything like me, searching for dining spots in Phu Quoc's northern Grand World often brings up countless cafe partnerships or Korean restaurants. While those have their place, sometimes you crave something truly local and authentic.
That's why I was thrilled to stumble upon Mơ Đào Mận Riverside Restaurant. It had just one review, but it absolutely reeked of a genuine local gem. And boy, did it deliver! The prices were fantastic, the food was delicious, and all three of us left completely satisfied. So, I'm adding my voice to the chorus of praise for this must-visit spot.

📍 Mơ Đào Mận Riverside Restaurant (Vietnamese Food - 베트남 요리 - 越南美食 - Вьетнам кухня)
VN-26 Riverside Grand World, Phú Quốc, An Giang 92500 베트남
Location

From the Grand World entrance, follow the river downstream. You'll pass two bridges, like the one pictured above. Mơ Đào Mận is just a short walk past the second bridge. It's conveniently located on the main commercial street, not tucked away in an alley, making it super easy to find.

The interior isn't overly fancy, but it has a charming, traditional Vietnamese feel. The windows are adorned with beautiful lanterns, similar to those you'd see illuminating the streets of Hoi An, adding a lovely cultural touch.
Menu Highlights

We had originally considered trying the famous Bún Quậy Kiến Xây squid noodle soup in Grand World. However, since they only serve one dish, we worried our child might not find anything they liked if it wasn't a hit. Mơ Đào Mận, thankfully, offered a wider selection, including a fantastic seafood pho. We also decided to try "Bánh Khọt," a mini version of Bánh Xèo. Instead of a large savory pancake, it's made with a coconut milk rice batter, grilled with seafood, offering a delightful twist.

Seafood Pho / ~$4
After enjoying beef and chicken pho for breakfast at our hotel, this was our first seafood pho experience at Mơ Đào Mận. While it's not loaded with seafood like some Korean-style seafood noodle soups, the refreshing, clean taste of the broth paired perfectly with the noodles. Our child absolutely loved it!

Gỏi Cuốn (Fresh Spring Rolls) / ~$4
Known as spring rolls in many Western Vietnamese restaurants, these were a standout. I saw them highly recommended in the single review I found, and they truly lived up to the hype. They're incredibly substantial and fresh. If you're tired of fried dishes like Bánh Xèo or other fried items, these fresh Gỏi Cuốn, packed with vegetables, are an absolute must-order.

Bánh Khọt / ~$4
These delightful little pancakes are shaped like traditional Vietnamese conical hats, topped with shrimp and green onions. A quick search revealed they are a specialty often enjoyed in the city of Vũng Tàu – coconut rice pancakes!

The batter had a wonderfully rich and creamy taste, which I suspect came from the coconut milk. The first bite was incredibly delicious, but it's quite decadent, so you might not be able to eat too many! Since the price is so reasonable, it's definitely a dish worth trying if you're looking for an alternative to Bánh Xèo.

Shrimp Fritters / ~$8
I usually assume shrimp fritters are always good, but the ones we had the day before were really disappointing. So, these shrimp fritters at Mơ Đào Mận tasted exceptionally delicious by comparison!

And of course, no trip to Vietnam is complete without a refreshing mango smoothie! We ordered a variety of dishes and drinks, and everything was thoroughly enjoyable.
Pricing

For the seafood pho, spring rolls, Bánh Khọt, shrimp fritters, and mango smoothie, our total bill came to ~$23. This place had almost no reviews from English speakers, but it proudly displayed a Peak Time sticker, indicating that partnership discounts were available!
We had received a Peak Time Travel Card at Incheon International Airport before our trip, and it gave us a 10% discount on our total bill, bringing the price down to just ~$20!
Grand World offers a plethora of international restaurants and even many Korean eateries. However, sometimes the traditional Vietnamese family-style restaurants can feel a bit repetitive. If you're looking to try a new and exciting culinary experience in Grand World, I highly recommend seeking out Mơ Đào Mận Riverside. You won't regret it!
